Our Newest Adoption

This is Sonny. We adopted him from Carly's aunt 3 weeks ago. He's a 10 year old Lab. It took him a couple weeks to adjust to his new home but he is doing fine. Athena is happy to have another dog in the house, she's no longer alone. He's a little camera shy but here's a couple shots I have that I'd like to share. So here's Sonny!

Congrats. What was the reason the previous owners let him go? To me it just seems kinda odd giving up a 10 year old dog.

She is going through divorce right now and can't keep him where she is staying. Her soon to be ex-husband did absolutely nothing to take care of Sonny after a while, she was the one who took care of him. She did take good care of him too, she brought me a stack off paper work showing all of his checkups in the last 10 years.

That sucks for her but glad to see she didnt put the dog in a shelter.

Hey hey now, when someone insults my pets I take it worse than if someone insulted me.

Not exactly...if its true. The dog is beautiful Rev. Congrats. But do note, my GF who is pretty observant about animals and grew up with a black lab saw the photo of him on the screen and immediately said he looks a bit skinny and frail. Then said he seems a bit old. She didn't read any part of the thread nor did I even mention anything. In fact, she just saw the photo on screen while she was sitting on the sofa.

But his appearance is about right for his age. A 10 year old lab is not a young dog. He could still be plenty healthy and active. Just make sure you take the time to provide a healthy diet and proper exercise. They do need more proper care as they get older. I'd rescue a dog like that if I had the room. Bigger dogs are awesome.
