The newer 400 hp engine is essentially based on this one with the addition of direct injection.
The "DE" was delivered from 2005 model year through 2010 in the Infinitis and in the Titan and Armada through 2015 model years.

You gotta love some of the Japlish in there. "Engine would have to deliver overwhelmingly power performance capable of impressing and exciting users."

Hmmmm.

Some thing to remember:

not just forged crankshaft but also forged pistons and rods, closed deck engine, six bolt mains and Titanium valves.
This engine is begging for aftermarket performance improvements.
Minor bolt ons plus UPrev retune have added noticeable power gains.

Then of course there is Harrops of Australia Supercharger kit for both current and early trims of the VK56.

At the 3:00 mark, "VK56de is also supported", i.e. the 2005-2015 Armadas and Titans (And likely V8 Pathfinders as well)

Oh, heck, yes. There are guys in the middle east pushing 1000+ horses on stock and near-stock bottom ends. It's hard to imagine a sturdier powerplant in this era of post-iron materials.

Hmmm.. I wonder if i can ever get my hands on a used SC kit..
Stillen made one too I think.

But this will not help the fuel economy...
I suppose a Turbonetics single turbo kit from a 350Z could be adapted..
