Oops ... sorry about that. If you want to sign in, just use nissanfan01, password 08072005 and search for album "1990 240 SX."

This is where I am posting photos of our beloved car that we are having to try and sell as a project/drift car, since we do not have the means to have the costly repairs done.

What all is wrong? We have a great for sale section where you can pick up spare parts and folks in our various motor sections who know their respective powerplants better than I know how to tie my shoes.

I am loading more photos tonight. We took some really good ones.

The car is in too good of shape to let a salvage yard haul it away for a lousy $25, only to be smashed. None of the local yards are looking for 240 parts right now.

It needs a water pump, radiator and thermostat for starters. Our mechanic told us the clutch needed to be replaced, but based on what I have read here, there could also be something happening with the transmission because when hubby tried to drive it home from the shop, it shifted gears, but ultimately stopped moving forward. This was v-e-r-y perplexing to us because the car drove fine on the way to the shop.

It needs to have the driver's seat either replaced or repaired, as it will not stay upright. Nissan said they do not sell the seat as a whole unit, so I guess it's a fixer upper.

The engine has a blown gasket and is burning oil. The muffler has a small hole, but we did not replace it because we liked the sound. And the odometer stopped working about 40K miles ago and the speedometer just went out.

I guess we could say this car is junk now mechanically [A/C works great ], but we keep feeling that if it were in the right hands, it could be turned around in no time.

Despite everything that has recently happened, and most of it seemingly overnight, this has been one great car with regular 2K oil changes. It's just old. I would highly recommend 240's to anyone.

So keep it. I can almost promise you that if all these problems happened out of nowhere, there's probably a simple explanation for it.

Check this out...

KA24DE motorset ~ $300Upgrade to your motor, easy swap in. Solves blown gasket issues, transmission problem. May very well solve speedo and odometer issues, as it could be as simple as a bad speed sensor (in the transmission... hmmm.) Also, the engine may include accessories... if so, there's your water pump. Should include wiring harness.

S14 Seats ~ $300Newer seats with less rips that hold you better than the stock S13 pieces. They bolt right in.

S13 Radiator ~ cheapKeep your eye on the forums. When someone upgrades their radiator on the KA, or if they swap in an SR20DET, the OEM radiator ends up sitting in the garage. Most folks will be willing to part with it for little or nothing.

So, for just a little more than you might expect to get for the car in "junker" status, you can probably get it running more reliably. Of course it's up to you, but I just wanted to toss in my $0.02. Good luck!

*Sigh* Okay, NM. I just searched your other topics. Sounds like you and your husband are pretty resolved to sell it. I hope you get a good price for it, though honestly, you really shouldn't expect more than a few hundred bucks. (Few = 3)
