Fortunately, insurance is covering and the repair shop is using genuine Infiniti parts (and is also in the "State Farm Select" program so I get a lifetime warranty on the repairs directly from State Farm). Unfortunately, I'll still get hosed for a grand or so due to Carfax when I get rid of the car. Which I may never do, at my age.Fezzik wrote:That headlight assembly is much cheaper on ebay. Wow.
Sorry to hear about the damage though. It's tough dealing with that to our dear cars.
You have to evaluate the repair cost against the loss of value on the other end, when considering insurance vs. out of pocket. The 2011 front bumper cover is about $450, the fitting and paint cost about $350. If those were the extent of the damage, I'd have paid out of pocket to avoid the Carfax situation (which will whack the value by significantly more than that).audtatious wrote:My wife backed into a car in the Q50 last month and cut the bumper. I'm sure that will lower the value as well. ugh

She was all crying when she got home and thought I'd be all mad. I looked at it, walked back in and said "it's just a bumper cover and a square foam piece that's needed". Couple days later she comes back from having the car looked at and was surprised that they said it needed a bumper cover and a square foam piece. "Gee, you really do know these cars".
