My son was out driving last night and someone plowed into the back of his new Altima Coupe. I can't wait to see how long it's going to take to get parts since most of them are probably going to production.

On the positive side (other than my son being OK) the body shop guy said that they would install a performance exhaust system for only the difference in the cost of parts since the exhaust was damaged and will need to be replaced anyway. Now I am scavanging the forum and the web for performance exhausts for the 3.5SE Coupe.

Man that sucks! But as long has your boy is okay, it's cool. There are no bolt-on exhausts on the market for the car yet, so look into getting universal mufflers and have them welded on. Good luck.

Thanks for all the kind words. I heard from the insurance company from the person that hit him and they are paying for everything.

Some other possible good news... 2 of his rims were scratched up because the car was pushed into the curb. I'll try to get them to put the money for the replacement wheels towards some 18" Chromes that we were looking at.

I will advise on the repair time and cost estimates (even though we are not paying for it, might be good info for folks on the board).

Since the car is so new, get them to pay for loss of value. Generally, the repair cost is not the only loss you incur with a brand new car, the loss of value now that it has an accident on its record (and, repairs) will drive it down even fuller.

I was on jury duty for a case that covered this and the claimant won the case, it might be worth a try, they will probably settle if you're not too greedy.

I bought my coupe from Bommarito Nissan also. Tom Bommarito himself sold it to me. They have great customer service there.

Here is an update on time and cost. I thought people might want to know how pricey it would be to fix a bump in the rear

The estimate to replace the rear bumper, fix a dent in the rear quarter pannel and paint.... $1,931.63!

They also need to replace the exhaust system but they cannot estimate the cost becuase there is currently no pricing available.

All the parts were ordered today so we will see how long it actually takes to get them in. I will update once I get any more info...

The parts were ordered last Friday (11/2) and I just got a call today that they came in. So overall it did not take as long as I thought it would to get them. I will be bringing the car in on Monday for the repairs. I have not gotten a final tally on the total cost yet. What really sucks is that since the orig est. did not include replacing the muffler and wheels they will only pay the additional cost off of the receipts so I can't get the upgrades . I may be selling a brand new 3.5SE Coupe muffler soon...

Im sure theres someone whose willing to write up a receipt for the parts for you... what about getting the shop your using to put together an "estimate" then use some whiteout and suddenly its an invoice!
