other ways for checking for codes

hey guys I want to check for codes but my ecu doesnt have a LED or that little resistor thats next to it. So is there anothere way for checking codes. THANKS also I have a E5 ecu

well i'm not tooo sure on why it wouldnt have that LED light. install a light in there yet? that would help.

my J4 ECU (Type X Blacktop) didnt have a working LED, so i just replaced it. i wouldnt think there is any other way to check trouble codes

OR!

you bring it to a shop and have it run under a scope. that always works.

or straight up, bring it to a mechanically inclined guy and just make him examine the car. nothing is better than a visual and audible inspection.

you can hook up an LED to it. I had to do that to a local guy's ECU. I'll have a look at a couple of my spare ecu's and let you know if you're willing to solder stuff.

thanks guys the thing is that there is a little chip next to the led that is missing to and its to small to solder by hand 180fan you sead you had a couple of spares are they sr ecus how much for one thanks

oh bah. those spares are for my local customers if their stuff blows out on em and that goes for me too ha ha ha. Dude you're in socal, talk to marco of srpartsstore or wayne at phase2 or check out craigslist.
