ok so i was reading on 240sx forums that some guy used a radiator from some turbo volvo and it fit near perfectly, only problem is it was with a SR setup, so anyone know of any radiators from other cars that are bigger than the stock one and thatll work with the ca or ka???

Don't know, but I wouldn't think so without at least some custom work. You could probably find quite a few that would work though. Just need to make the bottom plate fit possibly by simply drilling 2 holes, possibly by adding material and drilling holes, then fab up some brackets to hold it in. I'm assuming most radiators are secured similarly to those in 240s. Take some measurements of the stock radiator, then head over to a pick-a-part.

The Koyos are only $330, the KA and CA are basically the same AFAIK.

Any KA radiator works. I have seen guys in JDM land and here use S130 radiators. They are bigger than KA radiators, bolt in, and are usually cheap.

Note: they are copper. So don't let it overheat. Ever.

Direct link to S13 (CA/KA) radiators from that site:http://www.radiatorbarn.com/a7...C2.4L

Sure, when a single row costs that much, why not just get a Koyo. And FYI: S14 and S13 use the same radiator.

S30 = 240/260/280 Z (71-77) S130 = 280ZX (1978-83)Z31 = 300ZX (1984-89)Z32 = 300ZX/TT (1989-1996)Z33= 350Z (2003-)

Its the "generic" 24x19 Chevy radiator (built by Griffin/be Cool/etc)$169 for the Summit version (SUM-380325)$189 for the Griffin version (GRI-1-26202-X) 1/8" thicker - many different trims that I have no idea what they mean.$299 for the Be Cool one :eek

Do you have any pictures with the summit one installed? Did they use the summit brackets? I think it will fit, but am cincerned about it's thickness. The 19" height can be dealt with, because I won't have the pins raising it off the lower rad support.

exactly the same. I would be willing to guess that the radiator hoses are the same as well... I think I'm going to try using them rather than my hacked KA hoses I'm using now

im running a 2 row that came on my CA clip and a SR20 nismo low temp tstat(opens at 62C). my engine runs at 62-65 C and at the track it doesnt reach over 80 C. we will have to see what happens after i push the radiator back, install my FMIC behind the core support, and make up a custom shroud to work with the stock engine fan. but i doubt i will have any problems. and you shouldnt have any problems cadet, the CA came with the same radiator stock as the KA, but i would recommend running the stock engine fan, with a shroud, over running electric fans.

Why would you want the engine to run colder than it's supposed to? At 62 degrees my engine is still richened up for cold start. It runs best starting around 70. Stock thermostat opens at 82, hot type at 76.5 and cold type at 88. I bought the hot type and I never ever have cooling problems. I use a KA-E shroud w/ stock mechanical fan, 13psi on t28 and I idle at 78, after hard runs I'm under 90. It a track I'd probably be sitting right at 90 the whole time.

There's a reason Nissan chose the operating temp they did.

Actually theres two - emmissions and economy.

Notice one of thoes reasons are not power. Plain and simple, a cooler thermostat will give more power at the expense of emmissions and economy. If you're running into problem running a cooler thermostat, it means the problem isn't the thermostat...
