haha, my friend tried going drifting in his Camaro SS onetime...he ended up with a busted rim, flat tire, and having to do a bit of suspension work. apparently it drifted pretty well though!

ThIs is the car reffered to above by Bud the SC300 is the Toyota Soarer...

As for the twin Ts. You will have to get a 2JZ-GTTE swap for that.

Its good to see that the domestic boys are getting into it. They will then see that it is not all about the straight line...I'm trying to convince one of my buddies to try drifting in his '96 Impala SS

lol, my mom has a 96 Impala SS, drifting that thing would be like drying to drift a frikin aircraft carrier :)

Steering is WAY too light on those cars, you can't feel anything that it is doing, and the body roll, sheesh....

Yeah, American car's tend to have WAY over boosted stearing, which translates into poor feel and feedback.

Hate to break the news but the AW11 has a bad weight ratio which prevents it from holding drifts for loing periods of time. Also, having the engine in the rear provides excessive traction for the car and drifitng is all about losign traction. I say the AW11 doesn't belong on the list.

I have never heard of anyone drifting a chevette. I know at least some of them were rear wheel drive. Is there a reason for this

I've tried drifting trucks, solid rear suspension is crazy in the turns, it just breaks away and yaws uncontrolably. I used to Drift this S10 4.3 cable truck I had, only in the snow, it was ok, but control mid-drift didn't exist.

I do know one thing though, if you wanna drift on dry pavement you need power, or at least it helps a HELLA lot too have power. I'd think that the ideal car, would be independent suspension, under 3000lbs, with a small V-8. Linear torque curve and no turbo lag would be perfect.

Perhaps a 1UZ-FE V-8 in a Mk2 Supra, ideal. It weighs the same as a 2JZ.

the most fun I've ever had was drifting a Porshe 914... I saw the car for sale at the Carlisle Fairgrounds. The owner wanted 7500 for the car... it was in great shape. He asked me if I wanted to take it for a drive, but I didn't feel comfortable, I'd never driven a RR before... so he drove and drifted the crap out of that car on some nice rural PA roads.

FYI the 914 is mid engined not rear engined.

ive been able to drift my S10 blazer on dirt.

i just put in 1st gear about 15mph turned then popped the clutch and viola one nice pretty low speed drift on dirt.

wouldn't even attempt it with my truck on pavement

Dood, how many times has the old style Chevy Caprice been used in movies as cop cars or whatever? So many powerslides, rollovers, and some drifting(ok, to call it drifting is a bit subjective on my part) as well!! those cars rule!

contary to popular belief the 1st gen rx-7 isnt fb it is stag something or other. but anyway any japanese 4-door saloon would be cool. driving sideways in a boat would be cool. i believe they are better designed and have an aftermarket for racing/drifting.

300zx as a drift car? Uhm..ok. Other cars are Cressidas, Cefiros, newer S2000s with Honda's suspension adjustment.
