Ah, but the question is... how long have you owned it?

It was many sacrifices ago. My daughter was 1 and is now going on 22. 8 more payments and it's mine. God I feel sorry for kids these days.

Yeah... you're not kiddin'! I just bought a 1 bedroom two-story condo for $83,000. 670 sq. ft, in a small mountain town. My parents payed $90,000 for their three bedroom house with full basement and attic, two car garage, and 1/4 acre lot in a desirable town back in 2002. This is ridiculous!

Just last year my wife and I paid $289,500 for a 1616 sq ft 2/2 with a huge family room (doubles as a 3rd bedroom) with a 1 car garage.

But it wasn't as bad of a hit because we also sold our old 1290 sq ft 3/1 with 2 car garage for $275,000... a house that we paid $174,500 for 5 years ago.

Don't hurt me...

Crappy 1152 sqft house but it keeps rain off, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, no garage, 4 acres, clear starlit skies and no neighbors for 500 feet.

$250/mth for 5 more years.

Got a deal from my grandma on land contract.

Yeah, no joke. Here in Vegas prices dropped REALLY hard. Tomorrow I'll be putting an offer on an 1800 sqft house in one of the most desirable parts of town for only $217,000. A similar house in that neighborhood sold last spring (at the market's peak) for about 350k. CRAZY!!! I'll post pics next week if the bank accepts my offer.

10 years ago 3 of us paid the same amount ($130k) for houses in 3 different places: BC, Winnipeg, and here.

A couple of years ago the Wpg house sold for 140, the BC house sold for 180, and ours could have sold for 230. If we sold today we could by a small Saskatchewan ghost town (there actually is -- or was -- a town for sale. Houses were going for 5,000 each. I could be king of my own fiefdom!).

Congrats!! I just moved into my new townhouse (3 br/2.5 ba, ~1500 sq ft, $937/month with discount, includes water, plus $20/month pet rent) last weekend! I know how great it feels to get approved for the place you wanna live!
