Original mufflers on all my old Q45's - Do they ever wear out?

All 3 of my old Q45's still have the original factory mufflers - in fact the entire exhaust systems have never been touched ('90, '93 and '94). The Forum doesn't say much about replacing worn-out mufflers, so it must not happen very often. How long will these exhaust systems last? When should I begin to think about adding this into my service budget?

Thanks to all you gurus for all the good advice.

Mufflers are stainless.

If you are worried, grab some of the young dudes who remove them to get that Mustang sound.

A $4800 exhaust system engine to air, should last to the moon and back [477,000m] unless exposed to too much salt.

Good to know. Very interesting. A nice little tidbit to dazzle non-Q people with.

Is that statistic only relevant to the Q exhaust or just exhaust systems in particular?

My custom Q after market exhaust rusted out totally in less than 100k in ATL/FLA. The 75k [94Q] unit I swapped on has 233,000 miles now quiet as new.

Depends on local salt enviroment.

We see many aftermarkets done and noisey in 50k few have a warranty beyond 3 years.
