Looking to buy an original 1992 240sx convertible service manual supplement. Got one from books4cars.com but it is missing 30-40% of the pages. No kidding. So looking to see if anybody out there has a line on acquiring one that is complete and in nice shape. Must be somebody out there?????

sxxy1992,Are you serious? I also got mine from there and it was brand new book with no tears or damage. Every page was there. Do you mean someone ripped off 1/3 of the pages?

Whatever it is, I'm sorry to hear that. Make sure you get the refund for it. I feel bad cuz I'm the one who told you about the site. Let me konw what's going on.

Nah... I've added 240sx supplement to my eBay favorite search, but never seen a single for several months now. I don't know what happen. It just suddenly disappeared from eBay.

Yes, that is what I am telling you. The pictures are very crisp and clear. It is clearly an original. But it has a table of contents in the front and chapters 1,2,4,6,10,15,16,17,19, 22 & 23 are all missing (23 is the index.....nothing!) Chapters 3, 7,8,9,11,12,13,14,18,20,and 21 are missing most of the pages. Yup, probably 30-40% of the book is missing. In the middle the 2 staples look like things were removed throughout the book and then they are folded back over. It is very obvious where the center of the book is. When it arrived in a flimsy protective cover, I thought "wow", I paid $40 for this little thing. I thought it was bigger, thicker than that. It wasn't until a few hours later I realized a good share of the book wasn't there at all. Talked to Natan today and he is going to refund the full amount of the purchase and expressed that he was sorry for the incident. He is going to continue to look for me as it was his only copy. That is ok. But I would have felt bad if they had just said, "sorry, a deal is a deal. " Don't you be sorry , though. You didn't have any idea. At least you gave me hope that somebody out there has copies of it. And I am sure it will be absolutely invaluable (meaning super valuable) in the future if anything goes haywire. They have an incredible breakdown of parts in pictures and drawings. That is the way people get the parts together when they buy somehting that mostly isn't there. It shows what it is that you will be looking for. But anyway, thanks for pointing me in a direction. I will just have to keep my eyes open. I will get one soon.

It's strange... I used to watch ebay all the time and they were easy to get. I'd see them frequently... so I guess I didn't feel the need to pick one up right away.

Lately I've been thinking that my brother might want his back... so I should probably get my own. So I've been watching ebay again... haven't seen one in forever!

hey sxxy.. until you can find one of your own... I can always take a photo and host the pics of any specific pages you are missing..

that is very gracious of you. However, I am missing so much, I really don't know what all I am missing, know what I mean:???? Any way, the guy above is right, as it turns out. Right now, as of tonite, there is a supplement on ebay but sounds like it isn't in very great shape. Not only that, you have to take the regular service manual with it. I just bougfht a very nice copy on ebay for a pretty penny so don't need to invest in another copy. Not bad price at all, but just a matter of buying something I already have plus buying something that I plan to just trade up for in the future for a nicer copy. So, I will just tryi to be content in waiting. thanks, though.

Maybe a few of us non-supplement owners could go in together on one and I could PDF it for us. I'm pretty sure I still have access to a commercial flatbed scanner and Acrobat Professional (I can visit our Publishing department at work). I'm willing to spend the time PDFing it for the sake of my fellow vert owners.

A PDF of the supplement probably isn't going to be a small file - each page would be a 600dpi black and white image, and then Paper Capture would have to be run to make the text searchable.

There's one out there on eBay, but the seller listed it with Factory Service Manual. He should have listed it separately.

If you want.. I can mail you mine. You can scan it, PDF it, and mail it back. Then we can "secretly" host it on NICO for everyone to use.

i would send $5 for labor. i think we all need to chip in on that one. i'm pretty sure we (vert owners) would love to have a pdf version of the supplement. we would collectively make it worth your while i'm sure.

Eikon... If you want I'll do it for us... I'm hoping to replace my top this winter and it would be helpful to have... plus I think it would be something for all of us to have... I may be able to pop it onto CD/DVD with regular manual.... e-mail me and let me know if you want to do that...

I'll let gointopless take it up if he wants to do the PDF from Eikon's book. I'm sure Eikon does not want me to sand the binding on his manual off.

I'd sand off the binding in order to load it in the automatic document feeder. Laying each page of the bound book on the glass would take forever, and many of the pages would not be positioned correctly because of the binding. Sorry, I'm really picky about those things - I worked in publishing for several years and am kind of a perfectionist.

another reason we should all chip in: to buy a manual to destroy in the name of an online pdf supplement. heck, if i can get my hands on a decent one, i'd send it out and sacrifice it for the greater good.

i'll keep my eyes peeled.

I have it ordered from Books4sale.. when they get it to me I'll gladly butcher in for you guys.... I prefer to have it on PDF anyway.. I have a computer in garage to use for my tinker projects... plus I used to work in printing press years ago and know how to rebind it if I needed too.. I all for helping everyone out.

The one on Ebay is a good candidate for PDFing because:

- The content appears to be intact despite the water damage (I think I still have access to a "gentle" document feeder if the pages are warped - will check on this)- We can all make a pact that only one of us would bid on it- We could resell the regular manual to defray the costs- It's in so-so condition, so sacrificing it shouldn't be too heartbreaking

I'd be happy to mail it off and have somebody copy it. But the book isn't really mine (it's my brother omnikron's)... so I can't really offer it up to be destroyed. If it were mine.. I'd do that.

If GoinTopless has one on order, let's let him get it and pdf it for us. Then maybe we can all pay him $10 a piece for a CD copy mailed to us... Or we can host it on NICO and we can all donate $5 to him or something like that. Obviously.. I'm just guessing on a dollar amount, but let's make sure we cover all his costs as well as some extra for his time and a "thank you!".

Who's going to bid on the ebay one? Someone call it out so that we don't bid against each other. Once it's purchased, we can compare it against the one Goin is getting and decide which to work on.. .

I'm willing to bid on and convert the eBay one if gointopless's source does not come through and the eBay one does not reach astronomical prices.

Gointopless, do you mean books4cars.com? If so, I thought they sold their last supplement.

Yes, if you remember right, I bought their last supplemtnt and it was missing 30-40% of the pages. Good copy on the ones that are there. Goingtopless, do they have a copy they are in the process of sending you or are they looking for a copy for the future?

i am also willing to bid on the ebay one, but if ishkabibble would rather have it, that's fine. i don't mind waiting for another one to come around. i don't really have a vert to work on right now anyway - besides, what i would be doing, i don't need a manual for anyway.

Since Goingtopless' order might not come through, I'll put in a snipe bid on the Ebay set at a reasonable price - everyone please refrain from bidding on it . If one of you really needs the set, let me know, and I'll cancel the snipe.

I can make use of the hardcopy regular FSM because I live in the hood and work on my car in the alley - and also drag the car 4 hours away to my grandparents garage to do major stuff. The electronic FSMs aren't really suitable for either situation.

I don't really need the supplement right now, but my car has an original top, so it would be nice to have "just in case". Also, you guys are really helpful and I can't contribute a whole lot, so it hopefully will be my way of paying you back for my ignorance.

sounds good, i'll keep off the auction. if you can't snipe it, let me know and i can be backup or whatnot and just tell him to ship it to you or something.

don't feel bad or think you need to pay for ignorance. every single one of us at one point in time didn't know anything about cars. you need to start somewhere. knowledge comes from experience. in this forum, there's a lot of experience and a lot of kindness. you'll be hard-pressed to find a better online community than the 240 vert people. i know, i'm on about 7 different car forums.

Got it (though another sniper drove the price way up at the last second... darn).

It's being shipped via slow media mail and I might not have access to our professional flatbed scanner until mid-December, but I'll get it done as soon as I can.

Isn't that a kicker... It may appear that I may have two of them ordered.. I found two sources for the supplement. Book4sale billed me for the supplement and when I spoke to them last they said they would only bill me when they had one to ship. The other source told me they had one in stock. I will keep everyong posted when/if they show up. If I get two I won't feel bad chopping one up to PDF it and make copies for everyone to CD. May know something this week or beginning part of next.

I think someone can host it, so people can download it. This is awsome. If you own a 240 vert, you really need this. It's very informative.
