http://www.autocluster.com/aut....html"The name Nissan comes from Nihon Sangyo, who bought the one-year old Jidosha Seizo Co Ltd in 1934 and changed its name to reflect his own."

http://www.nissan.com.my/cor/why/mark.htm"The circle in the background is red. This red, the blue of the middle bar, and the white of the overlaying letters are Nissan's official corporate colours. The red circle symbolises the rising sun and sincerity, and the blue represents the colour of the sky. The concept behind the mark is the proverb "Sincerity brings success."

Datsun, japanese car makes made a new car and needed a name for it fast, they went to a german scientist and asked them to make a name for their new car within a week, upon hearing this the german scientist exclaimed "Dat soon?!" bahahaha, its funnier in person.

My interpretation....

日 Ni - as in Nihon = Japan産 San - Made/produced

日産 - Nissan - Made by Japan

Interesting that the engine in the background on that site is an SR20.
