if your car is for the track ide go for it, but if its a DD these are a bad idea. if they get hit they will shatter into a billion peices

unless you fab up some nice supports for them. ive only seen them on like 2 cars before thoguh. both were d1 track cars

you should be worrying about getting the car before deciding what to do to it

haha... you act like these doors are in high demand.

As far as I know, Origin always had great fitment, in and out.

I'm not too much of a fan of the whole carbon fiber look, especially if like 80% of the car is painted one color and the CF isn't... but to each his own.

nah, I don't think so. Carbon fiber is a lot stronger than you think... its not made of egg shells

the weight reduction would be worth it, but both the carbon fiber door itself and the carbon fiber inside panels are NOT CHEAP!! i think i saw one or the other for $1200...

s*** check ebay there on their ....

i wouldnt mind having the inside door panels carbon fiber...as i plan on doing alot of carbon fiber on my hatch. even gonna lay real carbon fiber on my roof

you are adding carbon fiber to your roof, like on top of the sheetmetal? for what purpose, looks?

yes just for looks. i love the way carbon fiber looks. its not gonna reduce weight because im not actually removing the sheet metal...but im gonna lay real carbon fiber, so it will look good. prolly cost 4-600 for the material. not sure yet cause i havent actually called the company to quote the material.

i'm confused. is this thread about FRP or CF? title says FRP but everyone's talking about CF. i know Escort Racing in Japan makes FRP doors for the Z32 but i've never heard about anyone using them, so i don't know too much about them. although i think i did read that they require very light windows and cannot support OEM glass.

hell yeah, i don't see a problem other than the noticeable safety issues. put in roll cage, take doors off.you'll basically have a lowered jeep that isn't top heavy like a jeep.

stock s13 doors wight lil over 65lbs each and the Origin FRP doors weigh only 11.5lbs so yes it would be worth it...

and no the FRP doors dont go for $1200...those are the SEIBEN doors you saw that are $1200 each and yes those ARE carbon fiber

a friend of mine had carbon fiber doors, they looked kinda weird on his car, since his was red and the doors were carbon fiber. they were super light, and anyone that gets out of your car will slam the s*** out of them on accident. i think there a waste of money. 240's dont way that much, and there are plenty of places you can trim off weight before needing new doors

I don't know, trying to get another 100 lbs out of a 240 is like trying to get a donut out of a cops hand

I have the FRP door panels.

You don't want them.

And if all Origin's stuff fits like my body kit, stay away... it's awful.

Exactly theres alot of other stuff to be had and done to reduce weight. as far as the door pricing theyre i wanna say between 5-700 look on touge factorys website for them. but what is your ultimate goal for the car. i can give you a good idea of what to look for and to do to to achive you weight goal for the car. To be honest if you kinda on the big side not to be rude but thats usally a good place to start.

ok i was exaggerating just a little but the rear hatch+glass is much heavier than a frp/lexan hatch

True.

And a good place to reduce weight (up high).

Start at the top, work down.

For REAL gains, drop weight off the unsprung items - wheels, suspension components.

better have a cage with door bars if your going to run those. its origin the fitment is usually good. wasn't ross petty's falken s13 like 1800lbs see what he did. although i doubt he used origin doors.
