JDM motor is the VH45 imported from Japan. The main thing is that mostly you get low mileage generally from the range of 30 to 50K on it. All that has to be changes is the precats and maybe a few nick nacks from the orginal USDM motor.

J you got a real good price there with the delivery included.

James - sounds like a good deal. Smart move replacing as much as possible with the motor(s) out of the car. You are replacing motor/transmission mounts while you're at it, right?

What's your ETA on having it back on the road? Are you going to be required to have it smogged after motor swap or just at the next normal time?Did I read in a posts somewhere that this is being partly covered by insurance?

The only thing I can recall hearing is a true "over heat" will toast knocks, but even that's just what I recall hearing/reading.

Surprised the shop doing the work isn't required to smag or at least report the motor swap ... you are in NJ right?

I'm totally psyched for you.

Wanna sell your JDM manifolds?

Does it come with a JDM ECU? I would kill for one of those.

Well, I'm gonna do some searching to see what the JDM versions were rated at, b/c the "rumor" is that the gentlemans agreement only applied to exported cars.

I also think the same motor sans precats, more agressive tuning and higher octane fuel (in Japan) definitely made more hp. Any chance you can do a before and after headers dyno?

I don't think you need to report it to the DMV - it's the same motor??

Unless your DMV keeps track of serial number.

I want the Japanese ECU because it doesn't have EGR and has more advanced timing maps. I'd just like to check one out.

I'm not sure - I think it depends on the year.

I know VQs and SRs don't, but they also depend on the year.
