Orange TPMS

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Read through some of the posts on the forum and thought he programmable Orange TPMS solution sounded great!

We bought a 2011 EX35 and are currently in the process of getting winter tires.

I went to my local CT and asked about the Orange TPMS sensors and they really weren't familiar with the product. They also said to program the sensors would cost $99/hour (their shop rate) and they didn't know how long it would take.

I called Orange (1-888-407-8767) and they said they had sensors available for 2010 EX35's but not for 2011's.
I asked whether they'd have an updated version soon and they said to call back next year.

... guess my only choice is to get the TPMS sensors from the dealership.

Hum. I would still try the 2010 EX sensors Orange makes on your 2011. I am sure that there is little or no changes to the TPMS sensor system (or ask your dealer if there is or Infiniti directly).

Then, ask Orange who in your area could program the sensors, or what is the process to program them. If it works, even at $99, you will save 45$ twice a year with reprograms. If it does not work the ATEQ tool might be your other option (beside going to the dealer twice a year). I have the ATEQ tool and use it to program the ECU for the Honda I have. The tool also worked on the EX5 but I have no need for it because CT at programmed the sensors to be the same ID as the OEM. Good luck.

Thanks for the response. Looks like Infiniti made some changes to the system.....

INFINITI EX35 2009-2010 TPMS SENSOR PACIFIC 40700-JK00C

INFINITI EX35 2011 TPMS SENSOR PACIFIC 40700-1LA0C (I verified this one with 2 dealerships)

And I'm sure Orange would be the first ones to offer them for sale if they worked.... At this point, I'm leaning towards waiting for the new Orange Sensors...

It is unbelievable that Infiniti does this i.e., makes our life hard. Yes, I would do so: wait until Orange makes them and then install them. So you run a winter with the TPMS light on. I would live with that if it means no $ being given to Infiniti because of their lack of "insights" in what customers need

I can't believe Infiniti can't use a system similar to the Germans that utilize the ABS system to measure tire rotation to identify if there's a problem with tire pressure. My experience with TPMS has been a lot more trouble than it's worth -- faulty sensors... batteries that wear out.... broken sensors when tire shops torque them on too tight....

Hello all
This is a follow-up about the TPMS sensor "troubles" that Infiniti insists of make us owner go through twice a year when we swap tires/times between seasons...

Cole's notes
Good news. I had the Orange Electronics "programmable" tpms sensors installed and programmed to emit the same OEM sensor codes that are already in the car's ECU. No need of any special tool: one can swap winter and summer tires without having to reprogrammed the ECU.

I have a 2010 EX35.

Explanation:
Some of you will remember that I bought TPMS sensors (brand: Orange Electronic) from Canadian Tire. CT programmed these sensors to emit the same IDs as to what are already in the car's ECU. I was skeptic that it would work but sure enough, this weekend, I swap the summer/winter rims and no TPMS light on the dashboard. I drove about 100km and no lights. It seems that there is no need to pay the Dealder 50$ twice a year just to get rid of this lights.

(Incidentally, I do have a tool, the ATEQ Quickset tool, that can upload new IDs in the car's ECU: I don't need it for the EX but it worked for the 2007 Honda Odyssey this weekend as well- the tool works!)

Thanks
ice

Utilizing the ABS to measure tire rotation will not be as good as a direct TPMS. Imagine if all four tires run low on pressure and that will not trigger the TPMS to throw u the code.

If all four tires run low on pressure, they'll have a difference circumference. Measurable by the ABS system.

TPMS sensors in the wheels provide more data but most manufacturers don't let you see the data anyways.

I've had multiple cars with TPMS and can tell you it causes more hassle than value.

I've swapped my Wheels and have yet to see the dreaded TPMS Warning Light on the Dash yet.

Lucky so far...
