The transmission in my red 1991 truck took a dump on me yesterday. I was going to swap it over to a 5 speed but then I started thinking I could sell the red truck to help fund a turbo kit for my green truck. Discuss.

2 vehicles is enough right?
I'd put a turbo in the green machine. :)

I've always believed that if one wants multiple vehicles, it would be better to have them be different, giving more versatility.

I voted 5-speed but then I remembered you have the frontier. Turbo ftw

Definitely sell and fund the turbo. You're pretty much guaranteed to find a buyer for any compact pickup these days, even if it needs a little work. Sell the spare and spoil the green truck with the funds.

You're gonna be hard pressed for ANYONE here to convince you that boost is a bad idea. 5SP swaps are a PITA, and boost is easy power.

You just bought the red one recently, right?

It sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth.

It has been problematic but it does have 177k on it and has been a work truck so I can forgive its faults to a degree. The reason I have so many is because I know these trucks quite well and have a decent stash of parts for them on the shelf. As for variety, I couldn't agree more I should have something different but I have a warm place in my heart for these little trucks which are becoming more rare each passing day. I am still on the fence on this though. I am convinced I am going to turbo the green truck, it's just a matter of when and how. Keep the opinions coming!

Maybe you should do something more wild with the red truck. If you're going to the trouble of putting a 5-speed in it, why not bolt something interesting onto the front of it? Those engine bays have plenty of room. You could probably find an old C/K 350 with manual trans already attached...just stick the whole shebang in there.

That would be interesting! I have thought about that too. V8 the red truck and have something I can get into lots of trouble with.

Me being a HUGE fan of boost, I'd say add an option to the poll that says, carbed v8 with manual trans. I've been down the KAT route, it's fun. But there is nothing like the immediate gratification of torque on tap.
