Options on CD Changer for 98 SE w/Bose

Hello,I am relatively new to Audio upgrades and I need a little advice. My 98 Maxima is equipped with the Bose in-dash CD player. The HU has a CD / Changer button and I would like to find out what my options are for a changer that can be controlled with the existing HU. I see a lot of people on eBay guaranteeing that the OEM changer they are selling is compatible across many years and models. But, that contradicts what I have read in a couple of different forums.

1) What model year cd changers am I limited to?

2) What vehicles were compatible (Maxima, Pathfinder, I30, Q45, etc...)

3) Are any aftermarket changers compatible with the HU? I read in the stickies that USA Spec was an option, but after talking to Bob Randall at carstereohelp.com I decided against that brand. His company experienced many complaints and he dropped them.
