I have a knock on the #4 Cylinder at 2500 -3200 rpm. I can retard/advance the timing and this seems to move the knock rpm range up and down. I have researched threads and I seem to think it is a piston rod bearing. Also have read warnings that engine is about to sieze.

Anyone know how much it would/should cost to fix the #4 cylinder rod bearings on KA24E? I have 89 fastback se.

Any chance this can be done by avg mechanic?

Thanks for the help

there could be many reasons for the knocking, it could also be the camshaft not gettin enough oil(clogged up oil pump).
