Just found out from tire rack that the OEM rims for a G-35 Infinity Coupe 6MT (19 X 8.0 (front) and 19 X 8.5 (rear)) which comes with tire size of 225/40/19 (front) and 245/40/19 (rear) tires can be fitted optionally with tire size of 245/35/19 (front) and 275/35/19 (rears). The optional tire size appears to make the tires about 1 inch fatter than OEM. I beleive Joe603 had already suggested this option to me, at one time on this blog.

No not yet. Waiting to pay off cost of current mods, and perhaps, with tax returns, I will get the tires in March or begining of April. My current Bridgestone RE0050s are great. I have 16,000 miles on them and they styill have threads on them. I plan to use them up to 20,000 miles and then install new RE0050s with the optional tire size I noted above. Then, I will take the 4 old tires which I think will still be good and keep them at home as a spare in case I get a tire puncture, which usually happens when you don't have a dime to your name. So, the small doughnut will only be used to get me to a tire place to install one of the used tires I will have in my garage. I have seen Gs with three full tires and a doughnut. It is ugly. I would rather have one used but relativley okay tire than have a doghnut installed for days.

Hello joe603:

What do you think about lowering my car using eibach or Tein coils by about inch with the 245/35s (front) and 275/35s (rear). My car has the rear active steer technology. How would lowering the car look and what efffects do you anticipate on the car and on the rear active steer? Any issues with alignment on lowering the car? I value your thoughts and the throughts of others, on this matter. I plan to do this when i get ready to replace the tires ( I guess I will paying someone my whole tax returns this year--well I am helping to save our nation from recession).

Here's my thoughts on lowering the G35. I like the stance of the car stock and it handles like it's on rails, so modifying the suspension is only for those who intend on racing. But, I don't think the rear active steer would be affected by lowering or going with a wider tire.

Make sure and do an alignment if you lower it though.

I agree completely with you. I have had the same thought for a while. However, when you read all these blogs and stuff around, you get the impression that lowering it may be a good idea. I am perfectly satisfied with the way it is right now. I think I will stick to the fatter tires only, and maybe in a few months, install a non-underdrive unorthodox pulley set, and perhaps some clear corners. Thanks a million for your sound advice.

Hello Joe603:

I just received my mrev2, my pop charger with z-tube, stillen cat back exhaust, and 5/16" plenum spacer. I am taking them in tomorrrow to be installed all at once. I have been waiting for this day for two weeks. Thanks for all your advice.

Were you serious about that? ^

Driving my G around corners scares the **** out of me. I can break the tires loose through 3 gear...Unintentionally.

I am considering lowering the car just for safety and comfort (not butt comfort unfortunately).

If your rear tires break loose, then you might need new rubber. I've never had the rear hang out on me unintentionally...and I've taken many corners at speed.

How many miles are on your tires? How much tread do you have back there?

The original tires were bald in the center with 3-4/32 on the outer edges.

I just had some 255/40/YR19 Ventus Sport K104s installed 280 AA A

And it still pops the rear.
