Has anyone purchased or seen in person the optional rosewood trim interior on the 08 g37? After a lot of deliberation, I am ordering a new 6MT this week and I'm debating the option. I'm not a huge fan of the "Japanese paper inspired look," but I can't find the rosewood trim option anywhere in real life (other than the Infiniti Web site). I'm ordering the car pretty much loaded otherwise, with everything except the Technology Pack and 4WS. It'll be red with black interior. Just looking for honest opinions before I place the order.

I have seen the rosewood and I am not a fan of plastic grain at all.....just looks cheap and crappy. Stick with the satin!

Rosewood is not a factory installed option on the Sport. I have seen an aftermarket product installed at my Infiniti dealer, and it looked great (if you like that look).

I saw a non-sport with the Wheat interior and Rosewood inlays (from the factory) and didn't think it complemented the interior at all. And I have Rosewood in my M35.

I wasn't crazy about the "washi paper" aluminum either, but it is actually pretty interesting in the sunlight and at night. Wouldn't be my choice, but for me it looks better than the wood.

Thanks all for the input -- much appreciated. I placed the order this morning and went with the "traditional" washi interior trim. Now I just have to sit back and wait -- restlessly I'm sure -- for 60 to 90 days ...

SWEET!!!

Why order? The dealers nearby fresh out?

Funny thing, originally I wanted the african rosewood too. Saw it on a wheat interior which also had the brown versus black dash and thought it looked great. I also wanted the sport option so that mean't no wood. In the end as others have said I think the washi actually goes better with the interior, and actually the whole car. This is a very sporty lux coupe.. no room for wood here IMHO.

Hemi, good question -- why order? Simply put, the dealer I worked with in ATL could not find the exact spec car I wanted. Typical for me -- I settle on a very specific set of options, color, etc. and don't want any variation. So for instance -- the lit kickplates (LKP option) -- well, for some inexplicable reason I gotta have the dumb things and I don't really want the dealer stapling them on, in between oil changes. There wasn't a car that matched my exact wish-list in the SE, and the concept of having one towed here from LA behind a Greyhound bus wasn't too appealing. And, to be truthful, I have grown to believe that the anticipation of receiving a new car is actually better than getting it, so I enjoy the wait. I realize this is probably an abnormal character flaw, but I can't seem to shake it. Forgive me.

And SNC, I agree with your last post on the washi interior, too. A few weeks have gone by and I've seen a couple more interiors ... the sportiness and relative simplicity of the base version has grown on me. So I think I made a good choice ... we'll see sometime in February if I still think so. In the meantime I'm biding my time doing inane things like downloading .pdfs of the owner's manuals, fruitlessly looking for new material on the Infiniti Web site (I've concluded they've put up the "Mission Completed" banner and fired the team that created it), and wallpapering the garage. Creative ideas welcome ...

What's that they say in the South... "a watched pot never boils"? Damn, that's going to be a long wait! Just FYI (not that it makes any difference now, but to someone else down the road it might), The Illuminated Door Kickplates are not a factory installed option. They are either installed when the car arrives in port, or at the dealer. As it turned out, they weren't even available when my car arrived in port back in August so when they finally were available in October, the dealer put them on... it took them less than 45 minutes.

That's nice to know. How are they powered? Do all G37's have a power port of some type under the kick plate? I saw some 3rd party lighted kickplates on Ebay and thought they'd need custom instalation but if a dealer can do it..it appears not.
