Was pulling the panels in the trunk to make way for some stereo upgrades and came across a couple bundled cables (unconnected) in the left quarter panel in the trunk. My car has the optional XM radio already installed, but next to were it is mounted are another couple of connectors, one looks to be about a 7or 8 wire DIN(brown) and only has I beleive I recall three (white). Both are wire-tied to the side of the trunk. Does anyone have an idea of what they might be.... I beifly looked in the service manual last night, but can't seem to find anything under electrical or audio. Could this be another option, I don't have installed that the car is pre-wired for. Any ideas?

According to our installer here that is probably for the backup camera from the tech package. I don't know what else it could be.

Any chance you could provide some pictures of these bundles? If the car is still opened up, I suppose!

P.S. I edited the title ...

Here's another angle looking at the ends of the connectors, I was wrong... they are both white.

Okay, this is a guess ...

If that box in the picture is the XM radio (and you are certain of this), then what you are looking at is most likely the connectors for the voice-activated control module. This goes in the left side of the trunk.

So, my question to you would be: do you have the voice activated commands option? If not, then this is probably it, since these connectors are not plugged into anything in your car. One (the smaller one) looks like the power connector and the other looks like the circuits to the voice-activated control module.

In the FSM, this is described in section DI on page DI-160.

Hope this helps,

Z

That would make sense, since I do not have the voice module option on my car.

the backup camera package was part of NAV package. And if u want it make sure u get it from the get go. I made the mistake of think that it would be easy to buy OEM parts and just plug in. Now i ahve no NAVI or backup camera

That is strange. My M is loaded w/ everything but the rear camera. I have Intelligent Cruise, Navigation, Voice Command. I don't think the rear camera was part of the Nav package. If it was then I don't know what happend to mine.

Now that I did a little reaseach I don't think the 03 M had an option for a rear camera.
