I have the option to buy a 1975 280z auto for $400.00. Body : no dents minor dings. Supeficial rust. Lower part of the hatch rusted. Driverside floor is rusted on two spots. No other rust anywhere went through with a fine tooth comb. The car is very dusty inside and out.Interior: Cracked dash. Old carpet. Torn leather seats. Complete interior though. Rear and truck interior Door jambs and rockers are all solidMost of the brake lines look good.

Here is where I need some help. The owner is a neighbour who is trusted. He says the fuel pump went out and he parked it in 1988 in his garage and never got around to fixing it. He claims that with a new battery he is sure it would crank. All the wires etc look really good. For about 19 years this car has been parked. I want to offer him 200 instead of the 400 and then spend the rest trying to crank it. Now Im not planning to drive it from his house to mine 2 houses away but I would like to know what things I can do to hopefully turn this baby over. I understand that it would be a stretch to turn it over but I do need to get some steps right so I dont damage it more. Should I just put a battery in and crank it or should I replace plugs wires etc. Another thing is what basic rubber components do I need to look at to get this baby cranked. Thankyou any help would be much appreciated

I would change all fluids first. Make sure that everything is good and lubricated. You'll need fresh gas and plugs to even think about turning over. From there change the fuel bad fuel pump throw in a new battery and turn her over. She will either fire or you'll have to start trouble shooting from there.

But if by some chance you don't want it let me know. I'm in huntsville and would love to get me hands in an s30 again.

I'd also recomend and oil change, and spark plugs, the L6 is pretty well indestructable but sitting for 20 years!, taht oil is trash I wouldn't want to pump it through the engine,a nd the plugs will just give you a better chance fo ti starting, also a bad AFM can keep the pump from coming in, make sure you have voltage at the pump before replacing it

As long as you have the spark plugs out, squirt some motor oil in the cylinders and let it soak in. Marvel Mystery oil works good to. It might save a piston ring from breaking on you during fire up.

Connectors & wires will be the problem after hoses.
