Probably because of the dimension requirements of the OEM battery.. Optima has been releasing a few vehicle-specific battery models as of late, so keep your eyes peeled for an exact accplication.

You can use any optima red top 12v that will fit in your car, as they all exceed the OEM cold cranking amp rating and are in every way superior to an OEM battery.

My advice is find a shop that sells them and have them try one for fitment in your engine bay. The standard Optima red top(800U iirc) should fit with a little lovin and tweakin of the battery tray.

The part number on mine is Red34/78. It fit in with no "lovin and tweakin" required. I bought it at Les Schwab but they are kind of high priced.

ah hah! I inspected the battery tray of my pal's 91 240sx today, and fitment won't be an issue whatsoever. Mattlord, what do you mean by "high priced"?? You get what you pay for, no?
