Hey, I tried searching, but no luck. Recently, i've been thinking about upgrading to HIDs, looking through cheap deals on ebay for a nice conversion kit. I was thinking though, currently, I have the Lamin-X headlight tints, color Optic Blue. Anyone familiar with those? On the site, and from what i've noticed, instead of that halogen-colored light, it gives it an HID-like clear light feel. Now i'm thinking of doing probably 8000K HID lights, which are a littleeee blue, but not tooo blue, like 10000k. Do you guys think the 8000K HIDs plus the Optic Blue tints are gonna make it reallyyy blue? Toooo blue? I don't want it to look so blue, almost up to the 10000K look. What do you guys think?

Btw the headlights are from a 2007 Altima 2.5 S Sedan.

Thanks

I don't think you quite understood the whole point of my topic. Or maybe i didn't make it clear?

I know the difference between the different color temperatures and such. Now what i'm curious about is how much the Lamin-X optic blue tints on the headlights are gonna affect the color. They supposedly turn the halogen-yellowish-color to a white-ish HID-like color. Now if i have 8000K lights for example, i'm asking if anyone knows how much the optic blue tints are going to affect the final output color of the lights.

I've got to stop you right there. There are no "cheap" and "nice" HID kits on eBay. Either fork over the cash for good quality HID kits from DDM Tuning or V-LEDs, or you'll end up paying the consequences with junky, China-made kits that you found on eBay down the road when they overheat, fall apart, and/or completely fail.

First off, i'm not looking at the extremely CHEAP HID kids from China. Yes, they fit under the category of 'cheap', but not 'nice'. I was thinking of Xentec or something similar. Currently, I'm actually already thinking about going with DDM's HID kits due to their name/warrantee/built-in relay anyway, as well as their similar price to the ones i've been going for on ebay, such as Xentec.

Yes, unfortunately I am familiar with them. If you want an honest opinion — they are extremely cheap and ricey looking. They belong on a '99 Honda Civic hatchback, not a Nissan Altima. :poke:

They also reduce light output by quite a bit, so they're unsafe on top of being ugly.
Thanks for your honest opinion. I don't think they look so bad, but obviously everyone has their own opinion, and i may be taking them off anyway after i put the HIDs in.

If you're planning on putting in an HID kit, then what's the point of using the Lamin-X tint? It's not like you'll have the yellow halogen bulb after putting in 8000K bulbs.

It'll probably end up looking purple-ish or violet with the combination of an already blue HID bulb and a blue tint.
I'm aware that i won't have the yellow-halogen color after i put in HIDs. Whats the point of using the Lamin-X tint, you ask? Well i started this thread because i'm asking if anyone knows of the affects of the Lamin-X tint, already installed on my headlight assembly. Obviously if it hinders the amount of light output and would look too-blue or purple-ish, then i'd probably be taking them off anyway.

Alrighttt, then definitely not doing Xentec then. DDM Tuning it is!

Heres the lamin-x tints on it now. Again, its probably not gonna stay on if 8000K's are gonna be going behind it. I guess i'll have to see. The only thing is that I don't really like the look of the clear housing. I'm not planning on baking my headlights anytime soon, and it just makes it even worse without eyelids :/

Haha thank you very much! :)

Couple quick questions:

1) When i quickly flash someone when i have HID lo-beams installed, what exactly will happen? Hi-beam halogens come on, and lo-beam HIDs go off for a second? How about when the lo-beams come back on, are they gonna have a delayed start-up again? Heres where the term bi-xenon comes in to play, i believe?

2) When ordering through DDM Tuning's website, please correct me if i'm wrong, i'm looking to purchase 35 Watt, H11 bulbs, 8000K temp. What about HID Harness? Error Eliminator? Adapter Cables? I don't think i need adapter cables, duh, but what about the HID Harness or error eliminator? I'm guessing the error eliminator is for error lights that could come on when the computer thinks a light-bulb is possibly out due to the decrease in draw/amperage/whatever? something like that? lol. what about the HID Harness (Dual in, dual out)?

and 3) DDM Tuning's conversion kits have a built-in relay, correct? So i can be assured that it will be drawing power from the battery, right? Just double-checking.

Thanks again

EDIT: On DDM Tuning's website, which kit should i be looking to buy/install? I see the Apexcone Raptor HID Kit or the DDM HID Kit Slim Ballast (35W) listed there.

Wanna order them soon, just not too sure about which kit to buy, and which options to select from DDM Tuning's site? (error elim/HID harness?)

What have you guys ordered/needed/suggest for a good, fully-functional HID setup?
