For the past month I have been hearing some rather interesting noises coming from my front, driver side specifically, suspension. At first I believed it may have been my Coilover, because it sounds kind of like the spring was reallly tense and was rubbing up on something. Then I thought maybe it was my mystery Tension Rods that I have on the car, I'm buying my buddy's SPL Tension Rods this weekend (On a sidenote, he wants $180.00 for them with Brake Defusers, but he has the S13 TR's on his S14, and they have seen track time as well. I tried talking him down to $150.00, but he isn't havin' it. I figure it is fair for a set of TR's that were used on an improper application and has seen the track a minimum of 5 times this season), but don't think they have any part in the problem.

Ok anyway, after some troubleshooting... Popping the rod and putting pressure on the fender to create the noise... it was not from the Coilover, but was coming from furthur inside/under the car. With the the hood propped and "rocking" the car, it is coming from just to the right side of the engine (looking at the engine) but under the vehicle. With that said, the only application in that area, that we could think of, would be the sway bar. I thought previously, after we talked, that it might be the Sway Bar Bushings, but was just a though and didn't think to in depth on that.

Well it settled down last week, and now it is making it's way back (the noise). Still in the Front Driver side of the suspension, and now also the Rear makes a little one every now and a then, noticed the past 3 days, 1 time a night really, the front, every bump.... and there is alot, my streets are shyt.

Also, I have a Old School Unadjustable Suspension Technique Sway bar in the front, and stock in the back. It came with the vehicle and I am unsure why the previous owner was promoting understeer with Front Sway Bar & Front Strut Bar, with nothing in the rear to even come close to balancing it out.

Well regardless, the noise is that of a Rusty Stiff Springed Old Matress...Jesda, if you're reading, you know all about that, right?

Here is a little clip i put together, JUST FOR LISTENING PURPOSES, this is from my lap with my digital camera, you can hear what I am talking about, and it is frequent, because my streets are shyt as I said. (:12 on is when it really becomse noticeable)

Any ideas? Swaybar? My next purchase is new Bushing Set & my friend's SPL Tension Rods btw.

Video doesnt work for me. Can you describe what kind of noise it is. Is it a claunk? Is it a groan? Could be an end link going causing a clunk in the front. If its a groan it could be the sway bar bushings needing to be greased or lubed.

No clunking. I am getting new Tension Rods, most likely ordering in a few minutes, and Bushings Kit, comes next check. So it should be fixed, regardless of which comes first. Thanks for the heads up though.
