Previous Post: different-cylinders-missing-thinking-in ... 69748.html

My Car: 91 TT, 165k miles, single cone intake, (old style w/ pintle) 555CC Nismo Injectors, AFC, ECU Flashed, 14PSI Boost, Downpipes, Performance Cats and Catback.

Goals for my car: Not drag racing. A mix of weekend cruises with a few visits to the track. Suspension and brakes will be taking priority over more power mods after I get past this current problem. I'm happy with my power until I learn the car better, and even then, I don't see myself ever pushing anything over 500hp, and doubt I'll ever get there. I say all this because I don't see a need for me to go above 555CC(or 615CC) injectors.

I've come to the conclusion it's time to replace my injectors. At first I was excited to find out that i had 555CC injectors over 370CC, but then I started looking at the Nismo 555CC costs, and was less enthused. I will lay out my options below, but it mostly comes down to this: if I do the "drop-in" Nismo 555CC injectors, it will cost ~$1200, they will still be the old style, and due to ethanol still crap out again in some short order of time, leaving me to do this all over again. There are other options for same price or cheaper that I'm evaluating that I think will be better in the long run, and for my wallet. If possible, I would like avoiding having to machine my plenum and flash my ECU.

Here's a link to a Google Doc where I've laid out the 4 main options that I've identified: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... mJYT3VyaWc

Note that for prices, etc, I would shop around a little, but I've just linked what I was looking at at the moment.

The option I am leaning towards is the Deatschwerks 550CC, which should get me fixed up for ~$700 on new pintle-less injectors, and not require an ECU flash (anyone want to verify 555 to 550CC doesn't require flash?).

Second option if people bash on the Deatschwerks, would be the Nismo 615CC, which will cost me roughly the same as the 555CC, but at least I will have new style injectors that won't fail as quickly.

I'm open to other options, ideas and opinions as well. Anyone care to share their thoughts?

Don't go with the 555's. There have been tons and TONS of headaches with them, and NISMO is refusing to replace them when they prematurely fail.

I'm personally leaning towards the DW 550's.

Thanks for the heads up on the problems with the 555s. I wasn't aware, did a quick search and came across this: http://www.northwestnissans.com/board/t ... ors-Suck-( . The last thing I want to do is have to replace this again (and spend the $ again), in 6 months, a year, 2 years, etc.

Yeah, it'd probably be under a year.

Others = STI yellows, I'm running these in my car, ran them in my subaru before (they are stock for STIs) they flow 520CC, a set of 8 (2 sets of 4) tested and cleaned (used) can be had for $400, they use the same pigtail as the phase nissan injectors. If not these then the 615s if funds allow. If funds dont allow (meaning you dont have money to retune) than go with the DWs because if they crap out prematurely atleast DW will honor their warranty.

Wait, the Subie yellows are new style or old style connector? Cause that's a great idea. You'll even have 2 left over!

I'll see if any of the tuners can do a base tune with those specs, and if they can, I'm definitely going that route.
