I have a 2010 G37 which will be 2 years old next month. I have 15k on it and having the 15k service done to it, what else should I have done to it does it need the engine coolant changed or beake fluid or automatic trans fluid changed or anything else at 2 years old??.

Thank you.

Welcome to Nico!!!
What do they suggest at a 15K mile service? What are they charging?

I would not do more than:
Change the oil - if it's time.
Rotate the tires - if it's time - good time to check tires for wear/bulges/nails. Also good time to check brake pad thickness.
Check fluid levels - NO to flushing any fluids except oil.

They change the oil rotate tires and replace the in cabin microfilter and inspect a bunch of things. The engine coolantt doesnt need to be replaced every two years?

Welcome to NICO

Here are the maintenance schedules for the car: http://www.infinitig37.com/maint-sched.html

Select the 24-month option and it will show you what is needed.

If you choose to follow servic schedule one or two it doesnt say when to change the automatic transmission fluid or diff fluid or engine coolant? Can I wait until I have 30k to change the automatic trans fluid and engine coolant?

The coolant used in the G37's has a life expectancy of 107k miles or 7 years. You should be fine with the factory coolant for another 5 years. The 7sp automatic transmission in your car never needs the fluid replaced, it's supposed to last longer than the transmission. Differential fluid should be replaced every 2 years or 30-40k miles based on premium maintenance plan. Based on schedule 1/2 service then the differential fluid is only inspected each 12mo or 30k miles but not replaced. I had ours replaced at 60k.

all the major stuff is at 30k miles...

+1

nothing past an oil change... rotate tires... inspection...

then id recommend doing the in-cabin filter your self. Changing the in-cabin filter is kind of a pain in the a**, but its not worth paying the dealer ~$100 to change a $15 part. (same goes for the air filters) check out the FSM for your year G and see if you up for the task.

you might need wipers... you can buy better than stock wipers for the same price they going to charge you for stock wipers...

The in-cabin filters are not that bad. I documented the last time I changed them: http://www.infinitig37.com/g37-microfilter.html

a service advisor had this to say on the automatic trans service: The vehicle’s computer system monitors the use of the vehicle and the car itself will tell us when the service is due. I have seen a couple of vehicles with over 100k miles not requiring a service. The system is a sealed system that uses a high quality full synthetic fluid. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

is this true?

What he is saying about the transmission system is correct (sealed system, etc). Now, whether the ECU/TCM monitor the transmission system and alert to when service is due I cannot state as fact or how it can tell specifically that it needs a fluid change vs. something else going on.

That's a great write-up on the cabin filter, Matt.

Have them do what the owner's manual specifies. If the technician finds a problem, such as warped rotors or suspension misalignment, fix that, too. Refuse anything else.

While absolutely true we all know they (dealers) will want to follow the Premium maint schedule which can be quite expensive. Should at least select one of the other two schedules and follow that.

Right. At 15K, premium calls for lubing all locks and hinges, replacing the engine air filter, and replacing the wiper blades. Schedule 1 and 2 call for none of those at this interval, and in any case they are easily DIY if needed, for a lot less money than the dealer will charge.

How to change the cabin filter. I have a mildewy smell in my car when I first start it up in the morning. The G was the same way. Carpets aren't wet...I've checked. I'm guessing it is good ole southern humidity in that filter. :squint:

Before you turn off the car, use the AC on normal...not recirculated. Let it run for a few min...The cabin filter will not make a difference. It's a design flaw...

I'm sure i can dig something up for you but I agree with Joe that the filter is not the problem. The a/c system has mold/fungus growing in it somewhere that is causing the smell. I've heard of others having similar issues with cars other than the G/Z but like Joe said it's a design flaw somewhere down the line.

I get the smell from the wife's sedan but I have not had it happen in my coupe. Kinda sux that a 45k car does that.

oh WOW! Thanks for the good info guys. Once again NICO has come to my rescue. :)

I might just start running my car on normal all the time unless it is really hot. Hopefully we are through the really hot summer months. I'm ready for some "windows down" driving anyway.

Great write up Matt! Just replaced the cabin filter in the 08 G35X.

Becki, had the same issue with the 05 Focus. Was a clogged drain line under the car. Is your car properly peeing from underneath with the AC on???

Oh SVT, that is just 50 shades of wrong. I'll try to check it a few times and see. I sure hope nobody asks me what I'm doing. Maybe he needs a Z-pends.

My coolant was changed when I had the plugs replaced at 106682 miles.

Was at the dealer earlier today for an oil change and they showed me where my differential has a leaking seal. Itis only a slight drip
The fluid should be replaced as it is still original at only 171222 miles

I've had the moldy/mildewy smell in my 07 G35x for a couple of years. I've had the car at the dealership for over five months total the last two years to have the AC worked on. My AC has had problems not working at all or petering out after about 30 minutes of use. I just had the 90K service, including new air cabin filter and still get the smell. I'll have have to give the fresh air trick a try this week.

The in-cabin air filter is pretty much just a hepa filtration system and does nothing for odors.
