I hear from all the local engine junkies that our stock pistons create to high of a CR to adequatley support the turbo with pressure beyond maybe 3 or 4 psi. I think we should be fine, and im sorry if this was discussed before, but it is kinda debatable... especially if there is a reliability question.

Guys are making 350hp on stock internals at 15 psi. And that's a DE with 9.5:1 (right?). There's no debate as far as i'm concerned. The KA has already proven that it's a motor just as capable of handling boost as the SR.

Have any of these "engine junkies" ever had any expierence with turboing a KA or are they just making uneducated specualtions?

Probably speculation. It holds alot more power than it seems like it would, being an N/A 4 cylinder with only 155hp stock.

I think if more people knew about it's limits, it would be vastly more popular than the SR20, due to it's availability. I can get a full engine + transmission for like $400-600 easy.

yeah no doubt the motors and trannies are cheap but, uhh, i was told my 93 dohc had 10.1 to 1 (ive never really checked it but whatever). The real point is whether a dial moving from 3 or 4 psi everyday driving to 7 or 8 psi race is going to crap out the motor to soon. I dont have hundreds of dollars to throw around ALL the time, so how many times you think you could push it before you melt rods or something?

lol, i think the rods will brake before they melt so you're all good on that. :)

7-8psi is easy going for a KAT. Tune it right and it'll be fine.

Rods don't fatigue due to more compression. They fatigue due to tensile loads(pulling force). Since tensile loads are more of a relation to weight and piston speed on it's way, up, unless you go over redline, the rods will never see more tensile load turbocharged than it would stock. Of course rods can be broken just from sheer force, but it should not fatigue over time just from adding boost.
