Opinions on Tires to buy for smooth driving

about a couple of months ago, i told you guys that the infiniti dealership said I'm not gono get the smooth driving i want without changing my tires because the tires i have on at the present time are performance tires. the thread patterns are quite big compared to other cars tires.

now my question is, anybody have any idea on a good site or place to buy these infiniti tires from??? all I want is an all season tires that would increase the smoothness on my vehicle.

check tireracks section on other people comments by tire where others comment on the tires for ride comfort, wet traction, sidewall stiffness, etc. after they have driven them some miles...this is probably the best place for you to get an idea of what a tire is like before you buy it

Probably the best two tires, with the Yokohama AVS dB2 being a third choice.

For smooth driving the Michelin Pilot XGT HR is a great choice. Non-directional, so you can even rotate them. The other tires mentioned are probably more like what you want to take off.

Beware the Tire Rack reviews on this tire. They have the XGT mixed in with the Pilot XGT. They are different tires.

The Michelin XGT V4 is terrible in wet weather (although, unlike the XGT H4, according to some others who have posted here). My two long-term experiences with that tire lead me to strongly advise against the XGT V4 for any purpose whatsoever.

I can't believe you said that. XGT HRs are crap compared toMICHELIN PILOT SPORT A/S. Probably the finest all season performance tire you can buy today, much more money, absolutely the latest technology and well worthit. I just went to them from the xgts and I cannot begin to tell you the difference. The H is better than the V if you do go with the XGTs. Also beware of Californians suggesting the Firestone sz50ep. Probably the finest rain tire made, but it will NOT go at all in the snow. Luke at Tire Rack almost fainted when I brought this up living where I do and we don't even get much snow. And you do live in New Jersey.

A point well taken! I totally overlooked the user's location when I recommended the SZ50EP. This is an awesome rain tire, but does not do well in snow, apparently (I do not have personal experience.)

I plan to try out the Pilot Sport A/S in the future on my M45 to see if they compare well to the SZ50EP for wet weather behavior and super-quietness. They (the Pilot Sports) are much more expensive, of course. I cannot go with my first choice - the SZ50EP - since they are being phased out of production right now and are not available in a 245/45-18 size anyway (sigh!).
