Opinions on tint %

So I have a time booked on Friday at a place in town here to tint my new V, but they didn't offer very many options for %'s, only 50, 20, and 5. I was surprised that I couldn't get 35, but whatever. I ordered 20%.

What tints do you guys have? What do you think looks good or is too dark?

My Versa is white, if that makes a difference in the matter.

I just got my black Versa tinted last week.

I went with 20% rear and 35% up front. I originally wanted to go 5% rear and 20% up front but it's illegal and my dad wasn't happy with it.

Since they don't have 35%, I would either go 20% all around or 5% rear and 20% up front.

In the state of Colorado the tint on the front, rear sides and back window cannot be darker than 27%. I'm going with either 35-40% on all windows. I don't understand the point of some states are only allowed 70%. That is pretty dumb if you ask me (besides of safety issues).

cali state law says that we are not allowed to tint the front driver and passanger windows at all.... and you can use 5% on all of your back windows, but you must have both rearview mirrors installed... i have 20% all over.... its a pretty good choice... it can be dark at times....

Mine's tinted the legal limit. Ya know.. so I don't get tickets. 50 front, 35 back, 20 rear windshield.

there was a thing on the news recently about how the police will be getting a "gun" to detect the % tint and if it is too much they have just cause to pull you over and search your car.

All windows at the same 14-20% looks great, imo. I have 20% 3M Black Chrome on mine.

Some things about tint films:

1. You get what you pay for....Don't settle for the cheapest.

2. Film consisting primarily of dyes are generally the cheapest available, but WILL fade and turn purple over time. Some in as little as one year.

3. Ideally, look for a metal/dyed "hybrid" or fully metalized film with a lifetime fade and discoloring warranty. Some fully dyed films are now manufactured with fade free dye, so they will carry this same lifetime warranty. Just be sure to confirm that the warranty covers both fading and discoloring!

Note: If you have satellite radio, standard radio, or GPS with an internal antenna, avoid fully metalized film, as it will interfere with reception. Luckily, the Versa's antennas are external.

4. Do your research ahead of time. Get to know the brands and product lines out there so you can make an educated decision. To understand just how vital this research is, refer to items 1, 2, and 3 above.

5. Don't be afraid to haggle over pricing if you feel one shop is charging way to much more for the film you want over another shop that has your second choice film for a little less. Many shops will carry an "upsell" line of film.. often, their upsell film is the same dealer cost or, in some cases, cheaper than their "standard" film. Refer to item 4 above so you don't get the wool pulled over your eyes.

6. Tipping your window tinter is appreciated! I generally try to give 10% of the cost as a tip.

Another note: they're charging me for the sections of the rear side windows (that don't open) as being additional windows. I was kind of bummed to hear that, but I figured it was fair since it is more work for them despite the small size of the window sections.

Was this the same for you guys?

i have 35 in the back and wish i had gone 20. i thought that i would have a problem vision-wise, but it's not as dark as i thought it would be.

LOOOVEEE ur V. what size are the rims? and tire spec?

i have 16'' rims that im thinking bout putting on my V but i kinda want 17's instead.
