JT - Bad link.

I'd recommend checking out some of the deals TireRack has (click their link)...

FWIW, I have Coopers on my Q right now and am pleased with them thus far.

SHOOT, I probably shoulda checked that link. I'm starting to think i'ma cheepskate, cause i'm not as impressed as w/ tirerack as others. Or maybe it cause i just cant afford high prices. However, Tiresavings.com is one of your sponsers to...i think.

Specifically the tire i'm talking about is the: Cooper Zeon 2XS, 245-45ZR18100wtreadwear: 280traction: AAtemp: A

Is this the cooper you have on now?

That is the exact tire I have.

p.s. When all is said and done, TireRack's deals are pretty impressive.

Cool, any other opinions would be welcomed. I'm looking for the negative stuff too, since that makes the most impact...get it...IMPACT I couldn't help type that corny $#!T.

Anyways i'll definately consider those if sears don't put their Falkens on sale day-after-thnxgiving. Those are currently $174 ea. if they go a bit lower i'll probably get those. Then 1/2 the work'll be done.

Which Falkens are you considering?

What size?

For what car?

I recently replaced the OEM Bridgestone Turanzas on my M45 with Falken Azenis ST-115's (245/45/18) and I really like them. Only $155 a copy in that size.

Well JT has a 90 Q. Tell you the truth I wish he would put up more pics of the car. It is probably one of the best condition ones out here.

A Rule I like to follow is when ever considering a lesser cost tire than Michelin [especially when Michelin was oem for the car] is to bump up LOAD INDEX by at least 5%. 10% would be even better.

Not that less epensive tires may not meet the mandated testing, just that this load index is tested on brand new tires not worn tires with more than a few thousand miles on them.

There has never been any PUBLISHED testing of AGED STRESSED TIRES.

Other than Michelins, recent data that show most tires beginn to fail just after 20,000 miles.

The 100w Load Index should be self protective to a degree especially in the first half of tire life.

http://www.mts.com/menusystem....=1218h ... /p...c.pdf

Even Michelin only uses 100 hours at 60 mph at 100F ambient to simulate 1 YEAR of life in the lab........[6,000 miles at 100F] is probably insufficient in Arizona.

I'm considering the same size you have but not exactly sure on model. The one they showed me was the FK 451 or 415 (or something like that), and said it was very similar to that one, I was almost late for wk so i had to split but i'll research more before final decision. Where did you buy yours for $155? Online or local?

In response to Qtech, if i get 20k mi out of my next set of tires that'll work!! I commute much less than the yrly average. I'm concerned w/ safety, since time will kill my next set faster than road wear.

Bought them locally. $155 was the price offered to me straight up, no haggling involved. Price did not include taxes and balancing. Here's the buzz on the Azenis ST-115's:

Extremely quiet tire (I concur)Good grip wet and dry (Yep)Really crappy tire for snow (Don't know, don't care)300 treadwear rating not to be believed

My alternative to these tires was Michelin's Pilot Sport A/S, which I bought for my last Q, and really liked them. But, they go for $267 a throw. I asked the dealer if he had anything for less money that was worth looking at. He suggested the Falkens. Never owned Falkens before, so I wasn't sure. Dealer says they come with a 30-day ride guarantee. If you don't kike them, bring them back and you can upgrade to the Michelins. So, I figured I had nothing to lose. I liked these tires from the get-go. Unbelievably quiet, track straight as an arrow, and a perfect balance job. Even if they don't last as long as the Michelins, I'd probably buy them again, just for the price break and the quiet ride.

Also, you mentioned load rating. The Falkens have a load rating of 100W (1764 lbs) vs 96Y (1565 lbs) for the Michelins in my size.

There was also a 2 year life parameter in the "durability study" that crossed with the 20k mileage. Prior to 20k failures were almost non existent, after they rose exponentially! As exposure to air oxygen once tire reheated [from initial vulcanization] by driving the first few miles, starts the degradation process.......obviously a function of ambient temperature also.

Anyway a true ultra performance tire won't have a useful life exceeding 20,000 miles [+ or -] or 2 years.

Why oem tires are so soft to wear quickly [for performance enhancements] and to get Nissan away from tire failure liability FAST!

I paid standard shipping so they must be in New England or NY. Very polite on the phone also.
