I'm graduating this year from high school, so i'll have this summer free to do whatever. i've been looking into the sr swap for a while now. i was wondering if it was a good idea to order it and do it myself. i've been trying to learn more about cars, but i dont know that much. especially how to swap in an engine.

I like the idea of saving 1000 dollars, but like i said, i am no where near being a mechanic and would have to start from scratch.

I looked over a wiring diagram and it made absolutely no sense to me.

will i be able to do everything in a normal garage? what would i need besides an engine hoist and a bunch of wrenches/screwdrivers?

Thank you for your inputs.

It can be done...in fact, I'm finishing up some assembly on my CA, putting everything together, new clutch, lsd, the works...and yeah I know I'll hit some problems but I think it's possible to do. But on the other hand, I do have my girlfriend's dad (mechanic for like 20 years) who will look over my shoulder and tell me when I'm screwing something up. I'd say go for it...just be prepared for it to take all summer, do as much research as you can, and you might even want to send out the wiring harness if you cant understand a wiring diagram, the 100 bucks or so might be worth it.

Turbo engine swaps are not good first car projects. Even after you get it in, you then have to keep it running. There are many more gaskets and hoses and piping and, and, and... involved with a turbo vehicle.
