hey guys, i know i might get flamed but i searched and found nothing. i know alot of guys recommend coilovers for a lot of reasons. i will be using my car as a d/d and i probably will never take it auto'xing or to a drift event. should i waste money on coilovers if i'm not really going to get the full use out of them? or should i just upgrade the shocks and struts and get stiffer/lowering springs. does anyone have any advice or opinions?

There is nothing wrong with going the shock/spring route. I was running AGX with Intrax springs for a couple of years, and with the front and rears set at 3, I was satisfied. The main reasons for me even getting coils was the fender gap was not "right", and the driver side was 3/8" lower. Of all the available options, I went with a used set of Tein HR's. Not damping adjustable, great condition, 9kg front springs and 7kg rears with helper springs, pillow ball and camber plate upper mounts. They ride very similar to the spring strut combo, firm not hard at all, only now there is suspension travel, low hi adjustability and best of all available for overhaul here in the states. For all the upgrades I have done to my suspension and brakes, I will be the first to tell you that for 90% of the driving that I do none of it is essential. It has been many years since I have tracked a car, and now I drive a rig for a living. The little time I do spend behind the wheel, the quality time, I make sure it counts. Overall, you cant go wrong with a quality set up. I dont mean stock shox and 4" drop springs, but invest a little money, and you will not be dissapointed.
