just wondering about what is considered the best polishes and swirl removers (non-wax!).

i currently have the 5 Star Shine System on my Q and i'm very pleased with how it's holding up, 10 months so far, self serve car wash and a wash mit and it looks like a just applied it!!!! there is some light swirls and pitting in the paint and want to try a swirl remover and polish then re-apply the 5 star. products have to be non-wax based though. any thoughts or opinions on some of the better products??thanks

I like Meguiars polishes. Go to their site and look at the professional stuff.

Go to a professional body shop supply store and peruse the 3M product line (what the pros use).

The 3M stuff does work well too. We used that while I worked at a detailing shop.

Ok here i go there is no such thing as a swirl remover.

First you have to understand what a swirl is.

A swirl is nothing more then a micro scratch in your paint casue by the type of rag you use. Or the the fine dust particles on your paint being rubbed by a rag or your wash cloth.

Now since you can't remove these scrathes from your paint you must use what is called a filler Ie wax or polishes. These products job is to fill in the micro scrathes so your paint job appears to have a smooth and even look.

Ways to reduce swirls is to use a microfiber towel and to wipe and wash your car in one motion( front to back or back to front)Power buffers are UBER bad for your paint job and never wax your paint in circles or wash in circles.

I think I will post my detailing articles on here very soon.

Power buffers and circular motions are bad?

Well... that changes everything.

i did hear that a long time ago about not using circular motions when washing and applying wax. i always go in a back and forth motion. my mothers vehicle, which is black, definitly has visible swirl marks that i hope to cover up. i think mine is "pitting" from bird crap that is left on too long. i'm gonna try the swirl remover and polish, then 5 star and see what happens. then a good car cover. TAKE THAT YOU DAMN BIRDS!!!!!
