I'm about to change back to my all seasons after a mild winter here in New England. Rather than spend $80 to remount the all seasons on the stock rims, I thought about getting a second set of rims and summer tires for the Q.

I really like the ASA AR1's from Tirerack.

For some reason, they only list the 17x7 and 17x9 sizes for the Q. The 17x8 is listed for the Maxima though...weird.

I am thinking of getting the 17x8's all around (if available) and 245/45-17 Kumho 712's. Total price with shipping will be less than $1200. What do you guys think?

If I'm not mistaken, ASA is BBS's "back door" brand. If so, no worries on them being nice heat-treated cast wheels.

Hitman: I Doubt it. They are a tuner wheel.. not to be confused with fat chrome heavies. Wouldn't be good for the target demographic ;)

ASA "licensed by BBS"

:(

All I want is a nice BBS-style mesh rim, with a 2" lip, in chrome (or highly polished).

Look no further than Fikse.

This wheel....http://www.fikse.com/fm10.html

With any one of these available finishes...http://www.fikse.com/finishes.html

And they'll build to your specs.

Good idea - Anyone know a Fikse distributor?

I could swing a sweet deal on some ad space... :thinker

(Actually, from reviewing the website, I'd bet those are more expensive then the BBS's...:()

those are all nice wheels. I should have the ADR M-Sports on my car sometime early next week. I am still waiting on the new steering rack from Joe to come in as the supplier was out of stock. I will post pics as soon as I get them on.

$80 to have them mounted? I have mine done for $40 at Firestone. Maybe It's because I bought both sets there.

They are made right here in Kent, but I am not in the market until I can drop $10K on brakes and tires also.

Phil Smith may have a better line into them as he is slightly closer and in the biz.

That is not too bad, really. I pay $80, but it includes free rotation, and balancing for the life of the tire. I also get no-questions-asked replacement, if I am not happy. This is from over 20 years of business wit hthe same people, and over 200 referrals I ahve sent them, many of which use them exclusively.

I can save about $10 per tire, from TireRack, but would eat that up, in rotation and balancing, in about 6 months, easy.

Rob - What offset did you wind up getting?

I have a 35 mm offset for a 9.5" width on the rear. This is the widest you can go without the wheel sticking out. I am right on the very edge of the rear fender with this setup. I tried on 8.5" width with 35 mm offset and I had about another 0.5" to the edge of the fender. There were two reasons for going with a 9.5" rear... 1. I wanted the staggerd (sp?) look really bad 2. I wanted more traction with sticking a wider tire under the rear

I have my fingers crossed that this will work as we had to trust a little eyeballing and some math on this one. If not I will be putting on the 8.5" in the rear as they have those in stock, but according to the guys at tirerack and the local shop they say that the most I can fit on the rear without the wheel being beyond the fender is the 9.5" with a 35mm offset.

If you go with a higher offset, then you can go with a wider rim. The higher the offset, the more the wheel sits under the car (pushes the wheel inward).

Here is the formula used by the guys at the local shop to measure the max width & offset combo.

3.38" = 9.5"/2 - 35mm/10cm/2.54"

So the distance from the mounting bolts to the edge of the rim can be no more than 3.38" outward. I hope I got this all correct but this is what I can remember them telling me that 3.38" was the max. Hopefully this weekend my steering rack comes in as I am going to have them do both things at once (steering rack, springs, shocks, rear sway bar, and wheels). I don't want to pay for a 4 wheel alignment twice. My car will probably go into shock doing all this at once to it.

I had some 17" ASA for a couple years. All around decent quality and you get the whole BBS engineering thing. I did have some problems with the wheels paint chipping real easy but besides that they are good wheels. Most of the line up is a bit on the heavy side though.
