Well I took my car to the local Nissan Dealership to get a complete diagnose of what was wrong with the car because there was a loud knock coming from the engine. Turns out that knock was caused when a bearing spun and the piston blew a hole in my block. Heres where I need all your opinions. I have two options right now since I want to stick with the KA24DE and not swap a different engine in. They are:
Option A: Get a remanufactured engine from the dealer with 0 miles, installed, all taxes included, and a warranty for 1 year for $3,250.
Option B: Buy a used engine with anywhere from 50,000-70,000 miles on it for around $500.00 and just have that installed with a 30 day start up warranty for $800.00 labor.
I'm leaning towards the used engine and just ripping it open before installation to check everything over but I'm really not sure. All opinions are appreciated. Thanks.
