As some may know I have decided to sell my MMR GT1's. I really like the look but don't love the look. I am however really liking the confident handling of the 20's. I want to go back to the twin 5 spoke sporty look but bigger and nicer.

So, I'm in the market for a new 20" wheel.

These are Vossen VVS-078's. Black machined with chrome lips. Similar to factory in terms of color. My car is dark so you will get a idea of what it looks like on my car. The wheels on the BMW are 22's so they will be a little smaller (hopefully perfect). Please give your honest opinions good or bad. Also, any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

This would look awesome IMHO. I always liked the OEM sport wheels. This will look even better.

I like those a lot. Sick rims! They remind of the Junction Produce Heritage III's but better.

That is quite the compliment haab. That wheel (Junction Produce Heritage III's)has been on many show cars.

Here they are side by side...

I am also a big fan of the 07 Sport Rims but I really like the ones that you are looking at in 20s. Beautiful.

These look great. I would definitely consider them if I wanted rims.

Refer to the first post Fiveliterbeater and read the whole thing this time. I thought I explained my reasoning there. Feel free to pm or call me for more detailed information. Glad you liked the MMR's. So did I. Just didn't love them.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I'm going to elaborate a bit.

In person the "hypersilver" does not contrast well with the immense amount of chrome accents on the side of the car. It's tough to see this in the picture but in person it's obvious. This is why I chose black machined. For obvious reasons did not want to go chrome. Also, I really wanted a more sporty look. You know, like the stock 19's. As I explained before, I really like the way the car handles with 20's. I also wanted a wider wheel in front and to be closer to factory offsets. The wider the wheel, the closer you can maintain factory offsets and still be more flush with the wheelwells. Also now with a 9 inch wide wheel in the front I can go to 275/30 in the fronts as well. Which is huge for me(love the meat).

My only worry with the new wheels is they won't emit as much as that expensive look as the mesh wheels. Also, the spokes are not as rounded as I would like. With Vossen's I am stepping up to the highest quality non forged wheels. They are a little lighter (2 pounds) as well.

I got the MMR's for a great price so I am not losing a lot in this transaction. Maybe I'm making a mistake but this one I will have to live with. These cost twice as much and I'd have no chance on recovering a large percentage of the cost. In terms of handling, ride quality, wheel quality, I know I will be very happy. We shall see how they turn out in the looks department.

Offsets...

FRONT BEFORE 20 X 8.5 +35mm FRONT AFTER 20 X 9.0 +38mm

REAR BEFORE 20 X 10.0 +43mmREAR AFTER 20 X 10.5 +45mm

To me the 7th Gen stock Maxima is a not so great looking car(mild version).

The nicest one I have run across looks like this. And I think this car looks outstanding. On this car our stock 19's won't make it look this good or the MMR's in my mind. This car isn't even lowered and it actually has 20's on it. 20 X 9 on all 4 corners with 255/35's.

well, now that you showed a pic of an M with those new wheels on, your choice does make sense and i didnt think it was possible, but the new ones you picked out look better than the MMR's.

I gotta say, I like the new wheel choice you made... but I love the way the MRR's looked on your car. I think you said it best when you said "My only worry with the new wheels is they won't emit as much as that expensive look as the mesh wheels."... Maybe not in person, but in the pictures you took, the MRR's really gave the car a luxury look that I like with this car. That being said, once you get the new shoes on, being your car is already lowered, I think they are going to look awesome.

I think you should reconsider your choice of 275/30's on the front of the car. I have 275's on the front of my sports car and let me tell you, it's going to change the steering characteristics of the car IMHO. Maybe you have but I'd get feedback on 275's in front before you make that purchase.. Gotta admit, I can't wait to see it when it's done!

Thanks guys. Appreciate it Five. I hope you are correct. You never know for sure until they are on the vehicle (which should be tomorrow). But, I got a good feel about this.

I want my car to look over the top and sporty. If it looks near as good on my car, as the other cars, all will be good. But trust me when I tell you I'm done.

I think the MMR's with the big bright face look nice but also say a bit to much. They look very big on the car and I wanted a more subtle sporty look. I'm hoping with the lip the Vossen 20's don't make them look to big. I don't want the car to look ghetto. Hopefully large but sporty and clean. I simply love 20's on this car in terms of handling.

Right now, the MMR wheels don't thrill me. Kinda like talkin' loud, but not saying anything.

We shall see...

On another note these wheels (even tho they are not installed) are growing on me... [img]

Thanks for your input Doc. Regarding the 275/30 up front, it won't be anytime soon. I got brand new 245/35's to wear out. In the mean time I'll do some research on fat tires in the front and what effects they have on handling like you expertly suggested.
