So I've got a black with silver trim 01 QX4 and was contemplating of having the rims powdercoated black. Does this sound like a good idea? I've got a hookup for it and it would be super cheap. I've been thinking about rims lately but I've never been a chrome guy, I'm more into magnesium. I also want to keep my car somewhat of a sleeper so don't want to go flashy.

Opinions are appreciated.

Billy

i dont know man. i like my vehicles mostly stock except for engine or suspension but body in my opinionn your qx4 looks awesome already and u really dont need to change it. u can always powder coat the rims that dark grayish blakish color found on the 03 04 xterra then i guess that would look good with the color of your trucks body. but as far as looks man definitely brush gurads and tailight guard and everything to make it look mean. thats how i would do it.

i saw a guy on cardomain with a q like urs and he painted the wheels black too. Im not sure if itd look great on urs, you have an 01+ with 97-2000 rims...so their the smaller ones, if they were black i think theyd look even smaller and make your car more of a sleeper but it would take away from the infiniti appeal. Youd have black then silver then black. if i were u id try to paint your rims on a computer program to have an idea what itd look like

ahh found the guys q i was talking about...

not too appealing to me but we all have certain taste i guess. Your wheels would be an inch smaller and youd be mixing this look up with silver trim. Its too much black on this guys q but yours has regular taillights (no tint) and silver trim so it might pull off a good look

This is a tough one. After seeing that dude's truck, which looks like **** in my opinion, I'm leaning towards not doing it. I think the grill guards would look good though. I thought about those a while back but they're kind of expensive for something that's purely aesthetic.

Dont do it unless you are a really big Raiders fan. Im not a chrome person either, I need to pick up some machined finished wheels in the near future.

grille guards are tempting (i think ur talking about what i am...bush bars?) looks MEAN but for me its just extra weight.....worse on gas (but your 125lbs of dynamat so what the heck) id say silver/brushed aluminum ones would look slick on yours. I think bush guards dont look good with stock rims though just my two cents. either up the rim size or put on some mud tires before you slap on those bars.

what you need is some cowgirl mudflaps and dice in the mirror, nothing yells badass like the girls n the dice. if you really wanna get MEAN get some deck-nals (trailer park boys lingo for decals) that read "p*ssy magnet" across the back window kill bill style. Id do it but im pretty sure the Mrs wouldnt appreciate it. Im considering "p*ssy whipped" though. LOL jk. guys that rock qx4's have their balls cuz theyre not sellouts that get civics because "oohhh high gas prices" damn arabs. here take my money, youll be starving in 200 years anyways!

congrats empty v, ive officially hijacked your thread, and now im off like a rednecks tooth. peace

i like the 97-00 rims! Perfect blend of looks and function. my opinion, i think they look better in factory form, i have seen a few chromed out (factory?) and they look good too... black would probably look sick, i just cant picture it cause ive never seen it done on those rims. But im sure i would like it. as long as its a shiny black and not a flat black.

they sell brush guards on ebay for 250 free shipping. i am planning on getting one for my pathfinder. and slapping on some bf's cant wait. ieither buy 03 04 chrome 5 spokes and slap em on or the 01 + qx4 rims or just keep them stock. it looks good and in my opinion an suv should look mean not blingy or tricked out how ever u may say it. but everyone has a different taste

i honestly think black wont look bad because of your gray trim but polished not flat black.

get a picture of the rims and the truck from the side and photoshop it.

I see Bmlawless is getting really good at that.

Nice! I use to have 31's on my old explorer and it looked sick. I was thinking about putting them on this car but I'm concerned about how loud they are. I'm doing everything I can to make the inside of my ride quieter and I think that those tires could be counter productive. I used to get over 80K miles out of the 31x10.5x15LT's without rotating, damn that's a good tire.
