I'm almost done with the engine build amongst other things on my KA... 9.0:1 compression and will be running a standalone.. anyways.

I'm looking for a good turbo that will take me upwards in the hp range but won't have a super lag.

This is what i'm looking at right now:

I'm not great at reading compressor maps, but the ranges for the HP and displacement are right on. Keeping in mind that I'm going to be at 9.0:1 so that spool up will be a little sooner..

Using my little Turbo Flow Rate Spreadsheet and assuming you'll be running about 18 psi on the street, I'd say it looks almost perfect. That turbo will start to fall out of its sweet spot above 24 psi or so, but that's plenty of boost. Just use a big front mount if you're gonna run boost that high.

There's a small chance that if you build boost too quickly you might surge a little. For example, if you managed to have a full 15psi at 3000 rpm's, you'd be across the surge line. However, I dont think this is a really big deal as the turbo seems pretty well suited for a higher boost KA. 15psi and up to about 20 looks especially sweet :) It definitely can provide the flow for pretty good numbers.

Damn, that's a pricy turbo, but it looks like it will suit your needs quite well.

Thanks guys. Now it's just a matter of finding it for cheap...
