I've got the stock 16 20 hole turbines from my 97 parts car, they are in terrible shape, essentially worthless and have an idea that I need some encouragement on.

I'm thinking of trying my hand at painting them "hypersilver." Here's an ad for the style.

I'm not sure how they'd turn out in terms of color, I'm confident in the finish being smooth, etc. At worst they'd look silver but I need to know if anyone here might buy them from me afterwards. If they looked good I'd probably ask $300 or so. For the 96 and older cars, there's a picture of these wheels on the car (can somebody find that?) and they look very good, much better than they do on the 97+.

I don't want to completely waste my time but am looking for some practice before I tackle some other wheels.

So please post your opinions, thanks.Andy

I have some in pristine shape, no curb rash that I recall.

They do need to be cleaned.

As far as finish, I like the clearcoat over the brushed finish. The OZ Superleggera that replaced them are painted hyper silver and look great with London Gray.

Thanks, I think?

I'm trying to sell MY wheels, I don't want anybody to be distracted by YOUR wheels.

Anybody else got an opinion? Anybody think its worth the effort/expense?

I think the hardest part will be finding a willing buyer. And if he's not local, the shipping will be expensive. Most of the guys on this site already have wheels or so I assume, and those looking to buy up will probably not want stock wheels. Maybe someone on the other side of the house?? (Nissan guys)

I have those same wheels on my ride, and I actually like them. I didn't think that I would and was planning on buying some 18" rims, but given the $$$I tossed at the front end, I figure I'll just wait and see. I'll kill these tires and make a decision. I'd like to get a year with the car and see how the repair budget is holding up before I toss 6-800 bucks at rims.

I recently saw some wheels which had been refinished and they looked surprisingly good. Good luck.

How much of the parts mobile remains?

The parts car has a surprising number of solid parts left. I thought the doors, fenders, trunk lid would be sold easily but only the bumper covers are gone.

Its crazy the parts that people want, little weird sh*t that I thought was worthless like; a ratty trunk mat or a single lone door panel light lens.

This is good and bad-good because its all money but bad because now I'm scared to throw anything away!! I'm dreading getting an e-mail that says "I'm looking for a tiny plastic clip inside the dash and I'll pay you $20 for it" and knowing that I tossed it. And this could go on forever.

If I could sell the engine or transmission I would be sitting pretty.

I did discover that that the parts car likely only has 86K miles on it-not 186K as i thought and the engine, I was told has 70K and the transmission may macthed to the engine so also 70K.
