considering on picking up a y33. what do ya'll think of this? what are things i should look out for before making a purchase?

He mentions engine mileage but how many on the car? At 80K -100K, shocks and front end will need R&R. Did he ever change the differential, PS and brake fluids or mechanically exchange the ATF?

Give us a maintenance history. You are in a limited market in HI, but in the states probably $6K because of his argument to sell it. V8 not popular right now.

Look at the transmission fluid and if it's brown shy away. It's a good first indicator that the car hasn't been maintained well. Ditto for dirty engine oil. Remove the oil fill cap and look inside the valve cover with a flashlight. Are the internals clean or black with residue (from too few oil changes)? Is the car detailed inside and out and presentable for sale or is there trash on the floorboards and in the storage compartments? Is the engine clean? Does the owner have organized service records for the fluid changes and other maintenance? These things say a lot about how well your car was or wasn't taken care of by the previous owner.

what's R&R? i emailed the person & just waiting on the reply. if i do get a reply then i'll ask if the diff., PS, brake fluids, & ATF has been changed. oh & i'll also ask him about the maintenance history & keep try to keep this thread updated as much as possible

look at trans fluid & if brown then no good, check oil, see if car is presentable inside & out, clean engine, organized records, got it! thanks for these tips man. im writing it down so i have a check list when i check out a Q!

R&R = Repair and/or replace
