opinion?

hi ive been in the 240 market for some time now and i just came upon a 96 240sx base model. The car is very clean, i would say excellent condition. The owner is a senior in college and makes money by buying and selling cars, so he bought this car acouple weeks ago from the first owner. He hasent claimed ownership yet so if i buy the car i would be the second owner. The car has 110k miles on it and he is asking for $6000. The car is pretty much stock except the original owner put in some pioneer speakers and changed the exhaust so it sounds a lil diff than stock. Kelly blue book says the car is 5200ish but this is without the inflated california prices. What do you guys think this car is worth? heres some pics of the car any feedback would be greatly apreciated

:ylsuper i payed about 5k for my 96, and it still hadnt cracked 100k miles.:pface still runnin like a champ and still think i ripped the guy off.might want to try talkin him down abit. its abit much for 100k+ miles and base model.

i payed $7500 for my 96 and they were asking $10k. it had 73k miles on it at the time. if its in great shape $6k is ok, but i would at least try to talk them down a bit.

oh yah and the car is a 5speed and i used car fax to check the history and it checks out clean so any other opinions would greatly be appreciated

on a side note: I got a 95 240 about 2 weeks ago from a dealer for 3150, just a few scratches on thw bumper, clean interior and engine runs fine...

yah the engine is flawless, it ran real smooth and everything checked out clean. There has been only one owner and he took care of the car real well. As far as the wheel situation. The middle man or the person im buying the car from originally bought the car with some brand new 17" but no one was willing to buy the car because the price of the wheels were adding too much money for the car. So he replaced his s13 wheels on and yah thats pretty much it. i have not yet made an offer but i think i will offer 5300

No, it doesn't have to be black. That color is hot. See Aries' LT1 240sx or Movingviolation's sr'd s14 in that same color. Those are two good examples. If the neutrals....black, white, and various shades of grey/silver are not available, then that shade of maroon-ish/burgandy color is next on my list.

I never liked it before I got it on one of my vehicles, but it does grow on you, and now I'm a believer in burgandy/maroon paint colors.

im not sure, i have an s13, so my paint is mega crappy, but at first i liked the paint, but the more i look at it, the more it looks like a shade of lipstick. but anyway if i had 6k+ to buy a car with, id buy 3rd Gears KAT. i think he said he was selling his for $6500

Plus, a color change on ANY Nissan is a BAD idea - Nissan's paint is some of the best in the biz, and unless you drop more than $5K on a repaint, it's definitely gonna detract from the value of the car.

i paid 18k for my 96 SE. i did buy it in 97 though with 14kmiles.still seems a little high.guess thats what you do when you're young,have a good job and a car boner.to keep it on topic i saw one in that same color with the roof and a,c pillars painted black. it was pretty nice.

Like the car looks very clean. have to agree with the color...no like. but thats minor compared to body and engine condition. color can always be changed to your likeings.:ylsuper
