Well i've been looking into buying new seats cause my old ones are about shot the driver seat tilts to the side and makes it very uncomfortable. I was thinking about putting Black leather racing seats with 4 point harness....DO u guys think that would look Ghetto on a 240sx vert??? Or do u think that it would make the car look a lot better?

You are like 3rd person I've seen got 89 seats. I wonder how comfortable they are compare to s14 seats. I have s14 seats and love them. s14 seat are bang for the buck and should be easy to find. Other people get s15 or r32 seats, but they are pricey. Try to avoid aftermarket seats if you don't get name brand such as Bride or Sparco. eBay seats might snap if you have an accident and besides most of them are not direct bolt on.

The one piece S13 seats are the worst of all, the 2 peice are a little better. S14 is much better than both of those. S15s are great, but expensive, so are GTR seats and they are too small for me.

I'm going with Z33 seats I believe. We'll see how well they do with that thick back panel.

Racing seats are awsome in a vert, just don't cheap out. Do it right the first time.

I'm REALLY board at work, so here are a bunch of pictures of how my sparcos fit in mine.

And about 7" headroom from the top of the seat to the roof...this leaves plenty of room for me, but I'm only 5'10" and 140lbs

Hope this helps and yes, I'm a pic whore

Are you kidding, the '89 base model seats are way more comfortable than the other S13 seats and they recline all of the way in a vert. I took my vert cross country a couple of weeks ago, and they were great. $60 for the pair.

S14 seats are the best bang for the buck if you can find the black/gray ones. I personally don't like any of the other patterns. ~$200-$300 for the pair

S15 and Skyline GT-R seats are the best looking seats for a vert IMO, but you usually gotta pay through the nose for them. $600 - $1500 for a pair depending on year.

Black leather in a vert might be hot in the sun.

Well sparco or Bride is gonna be way out of my price range. I have to get a seat that can support 4 point harness sense i'm getting coupe doors put in so is there any racing seat or other seat that could help me out i definitely want it to be leather and i no black would get hot fast Or a type of cloth like that Pic of the Bride racing seat above. That are within $100-300 for the pair?

As someone who just bolted in S14 seats into his '93 vert yesterday, I can tell you these seats are impossible to beat for the money. Impossible.

Much more side bolstering, thigh bolsters are just right, and no more stupid sponge foam from the ripping S13 seats.

The guy I bought them from just upgraded to S15 seats and they are the ultimate. I'd get S15 seats before buying aftermarket race buckets, to be honest with you. The S15 seats have more aggressive side and thigh bolsters (than the S14 seats), and are incredibly close to being a race seat.

And they bolt right in.

R34 hard cover catalog was seating right next to my monitor. IIRC, they make seats for only 50 cars per month. I think these are one of the best factory installed seats out there. Bulge near shoulder area might interfere with vert interior panels though.

You must have some crazy library of Nissan documentation.

I think they are about 2 feet wide at the shoulders. I measured them for fitment in the vert and it was pretty tight at best.

IMHO:

1. no such thing as race + leather seats.2. I actually bought a pair of leather, reclinable seats with the slots for a harness. Then I felt kinda foolish when I was getting clowned.3. Some people know already - I'm a bit biased...so take my words with a grain of salt....

4. I like my sparco evo 2 bucket - feels good and keeps me in place. I wish they weren't blue though.

5. Either get a real race seat (non reclinable) or stick to an OEM reclinable. Skyline or s15 seats are pretty rad.

6. FYI: 4 point harnesses are for looks man - and even with a proper harness bar setup and such, most of the time - the buckle part will start riding up your belly since there is nothing to keep it down. If it doesn't ride up your belly - well, then I find it hard to believe that it's perfectly mounted. more than likely it is loose and doesn't really keep you in place - nor is it safe.

7. Safety, safety, oem, oem. Repeat that mantra!

Aiite....remember, this is all my 2 cents. Do what makes you feel good - but just fyi.

-Chi Dog

PS: Race + leather is not real. Leather is slippy. For example, some manufacturers replace the leather seats with a cloth style seat when you purchase a "race" or "sport" model. For some reason, I can't remember any examples....but that's the case.

my little piece of info: 1-piece s13 seats > 2-piece vert seats. i've been sitting in my 1-piece seats for a while on the floor when i'm looking over my sil40 vert project or when i need to take a break and it's way more comfy then the original vert seats.

for now, i think i'm just going to have the 1-piece s13 seats reinforced and reupholstered. when i get the cash to throw at some seats though, i'd definitely save up and go with s15 or skyline seats. i personally think the s14 seats are boxy and ugly. i don't know though... i'd like to see a few more verts with s14 seats.

Dex, How much will reupholstering cost? Do they do new foam too, because my car was owned by a smoker, and it is way yucky? There are also some $289 a pair 'race' seats on the web. Has anybody used them and are they a ***** to install (93HB)?

i don't know... my wife's cousin does automotive reupholstering, and i send a lot of business his way so he usually cuts me a pretty good deal. grab the yellow pages and call around and get some quotes from local places.

after seeing a few s14 seats in verts, i'm not digging it. after doing some research on prices and availability for jdm seats, i'm not digging that either. i'm probably going to just end up getting some nice aftermarket seats.

ebay seats ftl.
