in my personal opinion 5.5 gens are the best but to each his own. They have the VQ35 and i am pretty sure you will be able to do a manual swap i haven't heard of anyone doing it on a 5th gen but if you do go through with it do a write up.

Great car. If it is stock then I would at least put a RSB on immediately. I have 140k on my auto at the moment and have had no mechanical issues (altho the transmission seems to act funny between shifts every once in a while now),,,,

Based on ebay, high-end is 9800 with low-end being 7500.

I am about to have 144k on my I30. Just as long as it has been maintained these cars have the potential to last for quite a long time.

Yep. I'm hoping it's normal and will continue on it's merry little way for a few more years. Since I'm about to give it to my wife as her car I sure hope so or life will be uncomfortable for a while after she has to sit and wait for a tow

i have a 00 max(5th gen)...and i had a hell of a time with the car a few months after i bought it, everything went wrong because it wasn't properly maintained by the previous owner.

if the Max's are properly and religiously maintained they can last a lifetime i'm sure...make sure the owner kept records for all maintenance and upgrades(if any).

if you are able to have it looked at by a mechanic, do so!!

Contacting the local Nissan dealerships service department to see what they show in their database would be a good thing to do as well

Ahh, I see. I thought you meant he should hold out for a 5.5. That's what I get for doing my own thinking, I guess.
