Operation 500sx has begun!

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

A month or so ago, I spun a rod bearing in my fully built KA, which was running a custom bottom mount T3/T04E (yep...I did that!). After much contemplating, I finally decided on a new direction for the little S13 hatch.

The deal is sealed. This weekend, I drive an hour to pick up the new power plant for the S13: 5.0 HO motor from a 95 Cobra, 82k miles. The heads have been ported, and it has a cam (I think it's an E303, but I can't remember lol).

After that, I pick up the T5 trans, then bring it all home for some 240 fun!

I'll post a fully detailed writeup with photos, so keep your eyes open!

I'm not sure how clean I can make this install, but hopefully it'll be as clean as my KA-T build up was. It looked like this:

The 5.0 gets decent mileage when compared to a KAT.

^^^ Yep. Besides, I drive pretty aggressively anyhow, regardless of engine size.

If he was smart, which he isn't, he'd run a Carb setup. Then he'd have his choice between hundreds of super cheap nitrous kits.

I'm leaning towards a carb setup myself. It's just to easy to not take into consideration. Blow through carbs are quite common as well and fairly easy to set up.

I'm keeping it EFI, you primitive f'ers! lol

Seriously, I checked into running a carb...gonna cost more money, whereas I can just wire this bizzle up myself and have no added expense.

For the cost of 10 SR20DET's, you can vacation forever, and so can your kids, in any of 4000 resorts, in 104 countries!

That's as little as $7 dollars a day!

F'ers.

If you pull off the wiring and manage to not kill yourself after, please capitalize off of it and sell me one. Same with mounts also. I guess I'm looking for an easy button.

Looking forward to your write-up. We test fitted a 302 in an S13 a while back. The SBF is a very narrow engine. Fits in the S13 bay nicely.

There are a couple challenges. With the stock mounts lined up, the T5 shifter is at the front of the existing shifter hole, which puts it well under the dash. The steering shaft runs right through the middle of the left-side exhaust.

I'd be tempted to reshape the firewall to set the engine back a bit.

Good luck. Take lots of pics.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll get the sledgehammer ready for the "firewall mod" lol

Seriously, though, thanks again for the tips.
