I'm buying an 08 Versa Hatchback on Monday. Getting an awesome deal but the seller is saying I will need to purchase the FOB / Keyless entry buttons to be able to open the rear hatchback from the outside. Apparently the keyless entry buttons were lost. Does that sound fishy to anyone here, or is this accurate?

I'm assuming your buying this vehicle from a private seller? I would recommend calling a local dealer and asking them that very question if you don't get a response here. I will say on my 09 1.8 Hatch (I don't have the power options or key-less entry) there's a button on the back of the hatch that I press to open it. It'd find it odd for this button to be removed if other options were added? I know it's not there in the 1.6 you have to use the actual key to open the rear but then again the 1.6 doesn't have the hatch.

the button will work without the fob, but you won't have the ability to unlock the doors (including the hatch) remotely. You can use the key to ulock the driver's door (and assuming you have power door locks) unlock all doors from the switch on the driver's door.

Thanks, Hopefully I'm not buying a problem. I'm getting an incredible deal on the car. It is a private seller but I'm getting an incredible deal on an 08 with only 21,000 miles.
The seller said that he can open hatchback from the inside but not the outside. We'll see.

Hmm ... Still doesn't make much sense. You still have to be able to open the hatch from the outside, I think he just means you have to push unlock inside the car and not from the keyfob.

Be sure to post up pics. What colour are you buying?

A good deal is always nice! I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here but did you carfax it, compare VINs on the body/engine etc. Have someone check it out e.g. a trusted mechanic. I know I'm cautious but that's just me lol I was hoping to buy used myself but the price difference between used and new were so small at the time I thought I might as well go for new.

That does sound odd open the hatch from the inside? On my Versa the hatch's lock is connected to the drivers side door lock so when I unlock the drivers side it automatically unlocks the hatch. I just press the button on the hatch itself to open it. I'd imagine that's what they must mean by open it from the inside?
