Hey guys, I got the head off the RB26 today and for the most part everything looks great. There were two things I was concerned about and wanted to see what you guys thought. All of the cylinders looked clean and you could still see the crosshatching. But cylinder 6 has some vertical lines that don't look too bad but I know there shouldn't be any. Heres a pic. Here is what the rest look like. super clean except for the lil oil smudges.

My other concern was the valves. All of the valve faces look clean except for the exhaust valves on the 4th cylinder. They had carbon residue while all the other exhaust valves didnt. The spark plugs are all clean but Im guessing it may have had a bad spark plug that was replaced. Heres a pic.

Nico experts, hows she looking?

can you feel those lines with your fingernail? if not don't even worry, a fresh hone and you'll be good to go. even if you don't rehone the block then as long as they are not deep enough to feel you'll be fine, they go in the direction of motion, if they were across then i'd worry

The cylinder feels just like the others, completely smooth. I tried to feel the marks with my fingernail and nothing.

Then you should be good. As far as the carbon buildup in 4, it could have been a leaky injector or something like a sparkplug like you said. GL with the 26

pop those pistons out (atleast the ones with lines) to make sure that there isnt hidden detonation damage or broken rings.
