hey all,

I have the JGS downpipe and dump pipe kit. For those of you that have this kit or are running a wastegate that opens into the atmosphere, do you have problems with the exhaust getting into your car when you have both of your windows rolled down.

It is especially noticeable since it smells like fuel pretty bad. I just got back from a 30 minute ride and im feeling pretty nauseous. I think i am running very rich, but the widebands showing 15-17s. (Side note: if i have a vacuum leak, and i set up the SAFC to add more fuel so that the idle stabalizes, would i still be running rich even though the wideband is showing these numbers, cause for the Lo_Throttle on the SAFC, i have the 1000rpm set at +17%)

Second question, should any exhaust shop be able to recirculate the dump pipe back into my exhaust, and for those of you that have done this, how much did it cost? As of this moment this is one of my number one priorities.

I get a gas smell when my wastegate opens, but of course it's going to smell like gas, in boost you're running 11-12 afr so it's going to be rich.. you could either route it back into your exhaust, or have the dump tube bent and going toward the back of your car.. and why do you have to set it at +17? did you get smaller injectors than stock.. lol

Do you have a dump tube that sends the gas out of the engine bay or is it just strait open wastegate?

Wideband sensor could be toasted, how far is it away from your Turbo? How does the exhaust smell on the car when your wideband reads 15-17 at idle? How do your plugs look?

A exhaust shop isnt going to charge you that much to attach a dump tube to the exhaust.

an exhaust shop shouldn't charge much for that. i got my full exhaust turbo back done for 300 bucks with 2 inch downpipe with flext pipe, then 3 inch downpipe back, recirculated wastegate into exhaust, made me a turbo intake pipe, and cut and welded up my egr pipe.

I wouldn't imagine a shop charging any more than 50 bucks to do something like that.

My wastegate is open to atmosphere with no dump tube. I do smell fuel sometimes, but its no big deal to me. I don't have problems with exhaust getting in my car.

yea i had that problem.. what i did was take metal tape and cover up ALLLLL the holes thats possibly coming into you cabin biggest part being the shifter hole... IT was bad like eye burning bad ( more so due to me running rich before my tune), but now i hardly smell anything with the window down.

I also ran the wastegate outlet down to the ground.

in the picture.. basically i had a welded section of wastegate pipe sitting around from a buddies setup i worked on. I cut it short and clamped a section of flex repair tube on it.

however as you can see water got on it and it rusted and it started to sound like Vtec when the wastegate open up, so i pulled it back off.

I had a dump tube on for a while. Maybe I'll work on that tonight.. It would be cool to have a focused dump... Although, nothing is better than dumping on people in gay cars or walking alongside the road at 30psi... Especially the GhettoFABUluz RIDaZ. The key is to dump, and then take a turn at the limit(pulling at least .9g lateral), then power-oversteering out with Rage Against the Machine playing. This is also a very applicable situation for your boss(es) or co-workers.

Seriously though guys.. If your smelling exhaust, thats a bad thing. You dont smell the trace amounts of that ish your breathing all the time. Maybe im just a pvssy but.. I dont really like the idea of inhaling raw hydrocarbons in long intervals of driving.

Routed dump would be sweet though, put it infront of the driver side rear tire.

i've got the same JGS kit. I don't have any issues with my car. I couldn't smell it even when i was running 9.8:1 under boost. You sure you don't have a leak in an exhaust gasket?

As far as your o2 sensor... have you tried doing a recalibration? not sure what kind you have but my LC-1 can be pulled and recalibrated off the atmosphere. Innovate recommends doing it every 3 months or so.

That's an interesting piece of information right there.

Kinda on topic: I had an exhaust leak for ages thanks to a stripped out stud on my headers but I thought it sounded like ITB's as opposed to VTEC.
