Who has experience with open wastegate dumps? Is it really that obnoxiously loud, and is it worth the performance gain? I'm debating over whether to go with a divorced O2 dump pipe that plumbs back into the exhaust, or one that just dumps the wastegate exhaust straight out. Is the difference in performance worth the increased noise level?

*I like the sound; just not sure if it's too loud for something that'll be driven every day.

I drove my friends car that had a gt30 turbo with an open wastegate dump and holy chit that thing was loud. It sounded like a jet taking off when his wastegate opened up. I couldnt even hear the tires break loose and squeal when it opened up.

However if this is a street car, Id stick with the closed dump tube... I hate it when street cars are obnoxiously loud.

Don't go open gated, like ILikeMy240sx said its just too loud. Not soo kewl for daily driving. Just get a divorced dump, I really like mine. Just make sure its the kind made for US models or they won't fit. They'll hit the steering column and you'll be f'ed.

Really, if your daily driving you wont hardly ever hear the wastegate if you dont boost that much. I know my daily driving habits are only revving to 3k-3500rpm and being lite enough with the throttle never hitting above 5psi. I dont see an open dump being that big of a deal.
