I bought a set of tuner lug nuts online and they sent me an open-ended style...

Will using open-ended style lug nuts cause rust on the whell studs?

a little rust on them is normal.. shouldn't be bad at all... unless you see a lot of rust or something

if you got kyokugen's, use some anti-seize on em threads...had a really bad experience with them and rusting on the wheel studs.

I think my kyokugen's are rusting, could be my studs though? Aren't they promoted as not prone to rusting? Whatever, +1 on the anti-seize

nah the kyokugens are pretty soft. They rusted up pretty bad on the WRX i was working on a little while back. The nuts didn't rust, but the studs did. Maybe it's cuz my buddy and I live right by the beach and rusts it faster, but they were a PITA to get off. I'd still advise anti-seize or some rust inhibitor

I have a set of gorilla nuts... Im not too worried about the nuts themselves rusting but the studs rusting... like 180fan mentioned...

I guess anti-seize would help... what other rust inhibitors are there to prevent studs from rusting?

That's weird, I have a set of gorilla wheel locks also and they're closed on the ends. I haven't seen the open-ended ones.

Anyway, you could use some of the stuff they sell to seal battery terminals to prevent rust, that would probably be the most durable.
